man, i am truly saddened by this news. i loved weiland's voice and loved STP and velvet revolver. i saw STP in concert back in '97 or '98 and they were great. i know he had problems with addiction; it sucks that it took another one from us.

Wow, I too was aware of his struggles, but really had hoped things were going better for him. Core was a great STP album, and he was actually really good with Velvet Revolver.

Yeah, I was also really surprised by this, since he was only 48. I knew he had drug problems, but I thought he'd been able to quit using. I haven't heard anything by his latest band, but there are some STP songs I really like. He had a great voice for grunge-type stuff.
