I watched both of them today. K01 was pretty enjoyable. The movie was fun and watchable. I found it really interesting to watch Joel fidgeting around in his seat and some extra microphone noise picked up, too. Crow also seemed to be moving around quite a bit for no real reason. Also I believe except for once Joel and Crow exited the theater and reentered for every commercial break. It was also interesting that they put up the movie title before every commercial break as well. I also was wondering what was going on offstage that caused Crow to leave and reenter the theater shortly afterwards several times. K02 was interesting as well. The movie wasn't as interesting and the riffing was slow so it was less exciting to watch. Still amazing to watch such early episodes. The audio/video quality was absolutely amazing. I think we're so used to seeing KTMA on tapes that have been copied several times from off the air broadcast that we forget that they were originally recorded in good quality on decent equipment. Other mildly interesting thing: since K01 and K02 aired only once, this marks the first time that anyone (barring Jim Mallon or some person with an unreleased tape copy) has seen them in exactly 28 years and 1 day. Pretty cool Yeah it really is kind of exciting being among the first people to see this in 28 years. I wonder if anyone who did see the original broadcast is still around as a fan of the show.

Have to ask... is the series they are based on, Stingray, available anywhere? I'm kind of curious to see the full thing now.

I believe the full series is on DVD, but don't take my word for it.

I might actually pick these up as well... I have to admit, I'm quite taken by the show in its own right after watching these.

Yep, Shout has had a bunch of these Gerry Anderson shows on DVD for a while now, including a blu-ray set for the most popular, Thunderbirds, which I loved as a kid but haven't seen in about 20 years.
They also have Supercar (which has been referenced many times on MST), Fireball XL5, and Joe 90. These shows are fun nostalgia and after watching these I might just pick up at least those Thunderbirds and Stingray sets.

Gerry and Sylvia Anderson were also responsible for Space: 1999, a live action series which KTMA also tackled as Cosmic Princess. Kind of a big deal in sci-fi/fantasy before Star Wars. (The Millennium Falcon was redesigned to look less like 1999's Eagle ... which also gave the ship its name.) Their puppet series are very impressive on a technical level -- though pretty goofy to watch. My restored version of K00 "The Green Slime" has hit Youtube, so enjoy. www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbWO2N0P9Uo

Loved the Anderson series all my life so it's wonderful to finally have K01 & K02. It's also really nice to see so MSTies here and elsewhere reacting so positively to these 'films'.

For those who want to see more before tapping into these sets, looks like Shout Factory TV has them up for streaming. Hulu has Thunderbirds also, but none of the others.

So just an update, the price to "purchase " the episodes through vhx is now 999,999.00 makes me wonder if someone bought them at the 1k Mark. And there was an oh crap moment. As a web designer I am surprised they just didn't disable the purchase option.
I wonder if / when these episodes will now make it into the mst3kinfo weekly review, and I hope they would make an exception and not make us wait till it cycles back through to season zero.

I read that VHX wouldn't let people redeem the package if they didn't have a price on it. It would be crazy if someone actually paid the $1,000 for it.

Maybe it's A) someone extremely rich who initially didn't want to contribute to the Kickstarter but was desperate for the lost episodes.
Or
B) one of the MANY people who were confused by the website and accidentally wound up spending money aftery trying to get their episodes for the thousandth time.

Or B) one of the MANY people who were confused by the website and accidentally wound up spending money aftery trying to get their episodes for the thousandth time. Yeah, I can easily see either of those two things happening. Although B isn't resolved by increasing the price (unless they're just hoping that anyone's credit card would be declined). I know Ivan said that they needed to set a sale price but you're always supposed to idiot proof products I think they could have found some way to disable sales or at least make it look less like they're trying to grab so much money for them this late. I wonder if / when these episodes will now make it into the mst3kinfo weekly review, and I hope they would make an exception and not make us wait till it cycles back through to season zero. They probably will update sooner but if the current cycle is kept up it would get to them in 67 weeks.

I'm surprised that they haven't done an article about the episodes surfacing yet. Just a little blurb if nothing else.
It seems like Satellite News is mostly puff piece "Weekly discussion" and repeating Cornell's episode entries over and over.

I'm surprised that they haven't done an article about the episodes surfacing yet. Just a little blurb if nothing else. It seems like Satellite News is mostly puff piece "Weekly discussion" and repeating Cornell's episode entries over and over. Sampo is a bit salty/curmudgeonly in my experience, and Erhardt hardly contributes anymore. They seem to do the least amount of work possible nowadays, which didn't use to be the case. I'm surprised they haven't turned it over to younger/more interested people yet. But the lack of update regarding the KTMA episodes (the biggest thing to happen to MST3K outside of the revival) is a big red flag regarding their ethos nowadays regarding news. When the Kickstarter launched, they could barely muster any enthusiasm and hardly seemed like they wanted to update about it at all, and pointedly made it known that they wouldn't be updating with each new funding threshold or casting announcement.
