My name is in the Christmas episode tho. So not quite last. Maybe there should be a "Where's your name" thread so we can look out for each other, since who else will? I couldn't wait, so I cheated and clicked on the end of a couple eps and finally found my name in the Hercules ep. (Spoiler Alert!) ;-)

I clicked around later episodes, and Joel's hazmat guy does have a bit more dialogue. That character is very Cinematic Titanic to me. Hey, and Spoiler alert!

The hazmat guy removes his helmet in the final scene and it is Joel sporting a grey beard. Jonah hands him a remote control to begin and end the movies, a tear forms in Joel's eye. Iris out.
Nah, just kidding. But Disney would gladly buy something like that!

Did anyone get more than one "Watch Now" email? Because I clicked the only one I got last night, and far too late I realized I was watching the final episode instead of the second! As a whole lot of spoilery stuff happens, I feel like the one guy who inexplicably read the last page of a murder mystery.

Well signed up for Netflix and tried to watch the first ep, but wow, what a stink burger. I maybe chuckled twice... and their voices are all kind of the same, the same delivery, inflection... there's no real distinct personalities here. I really need that for the show to work.
The other eps have got to show a lot of improvement because I could barely get through this one.

Which is a shame because I think they did a really good job on the season as a whole.

We've destroyed MJ's love for the series. I think I speak for us all when I say "mission accomplished."

Was skeptical about them bringing the show back but I really enjoyed the first episode. Looking forward to seeing the others.

I've watched almost every episode (I've only seen a few KTMA episodes), but I never watched Diabolik because I couldn't bear to see it end. So last night I watched Diabolik, followed by Reptilicus, and I must say, I laughed more during Reptilicus than during Diabolik! I thought it was great in every way. The riffing was funny, the host segments were entertaining, and it all "felt" like MST3K. Also, just as I was thinking that Reptilicus never had a chance to befriend an annoying little boy, they made a riff about it! There is room for improvement though. The only big complaint I have is the riffing feels rushed in some places, especially parts where there's a lot of cutting between the monster and the people. It makes it seem like there're just making jokes about a series of images instead of watching a movie. They also need to try harder to keep the illusion that they're seeing the movie for the first time. However, overall, it was great, and I no doubt that Netflix will pick it up for many seasons to come. Truly we are living in a new golden age!

Watched some of it earlier this morning. Props to them for using a Mario Paint version of the theme song in the prologue.

OK, I watched the first episode, and I don't know how I feel. I chuckled a few times, but I'm sorry, these aren't the people I came to love over the original run. I went to the Rifftrax show last night, and I enjoyed that much more.

I expected some growing pains, but hoped it would get into a groove eventually. What I love about MST (or any riffing project) were/are the distinct personalities. Bill's Crow, for example, the way he'd get cranky and impatient with a film. When you heard him speak it would make you laugh not only for the joke, but also for his colorful personality, a personality that was uniquely his - separate from the other 2 in the theater (who also had their own distinct personality traits and vocal deliveries) This is just 3 generic characters with 3 generic voices. It's bland. But being a first episode I thought, ah well, they'll work it out. They'll developed a personality over the course of the season. Another thing I like in my riffing is clever phrasing of a joke. Sure you'd get a fart joke or whatnot, but also at times the classic MST could tap into Dorothy Parker or Robert Benchley kinds of cleverness and bite. The way they'd script/phrase a joke from time to time was inspired... above and beyond what you were getting in usual televised comedy. I heard nothing to come close to that here, the quipping then too became generic, cookie cutter stuff. But again, I hoped they would work that out. But no? What I get in this ep is as good as it's going to get? Man, that breaks my heart. Now I'm wondering if there's any point to continue watching.

Its still a little clunky, but it'll take some time before they learn how to write a good, short, concise riff. The characterization is...still generic.

Funny how one man's trash is another's treasure. Started EP1 with a bit of trepidation and found that I LOVED it!!! I actually laughed more than some of the "classic" MST3K episodes. I'm not going to nit pick on bot movements or set differences or anything like that. Why do people want things EXACTLY the same as the world has changed in the almost 20 years since the original run? The essence and spirit of the show is definitely there and I can't wait to see the rest. Thank you Joel!
