When I was a kid we had a lot of themed weekend movie shows, Adventure Theater (for things like Tarzan), John Wayne Theater, some kind of Creature Feature (not the California one)... anyway, I see there's a new "Creature Features", 2 of them in fact, they even had a little lawsuit to decide the true heir to the throne, back in 2018 - but both still have their websites, one is hosted by a guy in an eye patch and a fez, the other some kind of aging rockstar. I watched an episode/movie from the rock star one... creaturefeatures.tv/2021/05/09/for-all-the-things-your-mama-did-for-you/The Monster of Piedras Blancas (1959)Which is a dry, Creature knock-off, very wordy, low budget (it tells, rather than shows). Lots of MST movie vets... Don Sullivan (Giant Gila Monster, Rebel Set), Les Tremayne (Slime People), Forrest Lewis (The Thing That Couldn’t Die), Jeanne Carmen (Untamed Youth), and Kolchak, the night... store owner. Actually, the character's name is Coatcheck, or Kojak, Kotex... something like that - but my mind kept going to Kolchak. The hosts were fine, there's the rock star, and his butler, and a silent creepy girl who looks like a cross between Avril Lavigne and Interview With a Vampire Kirsten Dunst.

Some of Commander USA's episodes are on Youtube. Devil's Gift the movie that became Merlin's Shop was shown once. Love the negative filter at 1:08:34 to hide the blood being spit on John McEnroe dad.

Now I know what became of Susan. And I kept waiting for a wizard to come and save the day at the end, but...

Yeah I guess Borgnine did tone it down for a kid's bedtime story. Kind of wish Rifftrax did Devil's Gift instead of a re riff of Merlin(though granted it was fine and they did riff on stuff that wasn't on the MST3K cut). I guess there's some legal matters with Devil's Gift or they couldn't track down the rights holder(DG doesn't even have an official dvd release and has been stuck on VHS). Maybe they're saving it and we don't know it who knows.

There are quite a few Son of Svengoolie episodes on YouTube, through a Chicago-centric channel posting vintage media all the time.
The fact that there seems to be an upswing of Creature Feature-esque shows posted online is really cool, especially as someone who grew up in a city without said shows in the 80s and 90s.
There's the 'official' Creature Features show out of San Francisco, Off Beat Cinema out of Buffalo, Svengoolie in Chicago and a whole host of others via YouTube and Roku.

There are quite a few Son of Svengoolie episodes on YouTube, through a Chicago-centric channel posting vintage media all the time. I looked some up and found Supersonic Man, his last episode back then. Man, what a youngster he was, I almost didn't recognize him in those older clips they showed. Yeah I guess Borgnine did tone it down for a kid's bedtime story. Kind of wish Rifftrax did Devil's Gift instead of a re riff of Merlin(though granted it was fine and they did riff on stuff that wasn't on the MST3K cut). Maybe they're saving it and we don't know it who knows. That would be interesting to see them do that, especially if it was Rifftrax, just to see MK&B reaction to watching a familiar/unfamiliar movie.

SLIGHT SPOILERS
How To Make a Monster was on Sven tonight. Don't think I saw it before(if I did it might have been in pieces) but was taken back that the ending went full on color like War of the Colossal Beast. Love how Sven for the trivia bits had to note all the Perry Mason connections. Also if anyone has Retro TV, Off Beat Cinema is showing the Mysterians right now.

I've got Svengoolie in a few minutes, and in an hour Creature Features will be playing Killdozer, a movie a lot of fans want to see riffed.
Edit - yeah that Perry Mason stuff was pretty funny.

Was looking that show and there's another one on Youtube called "Original Creature Features". Kind of a Famous Original Ray's Pizza thing going.

Yeah, there are rival Creature Features... I watched this one... creaturefeatures.tv/2021/06/09/this-weekend-on-creature-features-125/I was going to watch Tombs of the Blind Dead there, as I've never seen it and it's quite notable among fans of these movies, but they are showing the edited English language cut, so I went and found the unedited version in its original Spanish language and am going to go with that one instead. Sven's got another one next week that I've never seen, Curse of the Undead - a western horror - cool, I'm a western fan so that'll be interesting (I remember that one where Billy the Kid fought Dracula (John Carradine) and the hilarious confrontation between the two at the end)

Guess I'll post this here too since it's another attempt at a creature feature comic. Also that's a doggy chew toy as the monster. Attachments:

From Creature Features...
"Coming July 3rd, 2021: The wonderful Candace Hilligoss from “Carnival of Souls” returns to the Poulter Mansion to watch another one of her famous horror movies, namely “The Curse of The Living Corpse” from 1964. Don’t miss it!"

I wanted to watch an episode from Hammer's House of Horror and saw that ShoutFactoryTV carried them, not sure how long they host these things, but they currently show all 13 episodes there and in the correct aspect ratio (not stretched out like they are on YouTube) shoutfactory.production-east-b.k.zype.com/series/hammer-house-of-horrorThe Silent Scream (1980) was considered the best of the series, it stars the great Peter Cushing and Brian Cox (looking young), directed by Alan Gibson, who was going to be part of the new stable of Hammer directors, however his efforts weren't well received (though I actually like Dracula A.D. 1972, it's pretty groovy). I enjoyed the episode, it's worth checking out to my mind and makes me want to watch more. The series was released after their last features, maybe they hoped to shift to TV production, I don't know, but House of Horror only lasted a single season.

This should be interesting. Sven is showing Time Walker aka Being From Another Planet this Saturday.
