Not much activity in this section, but lets give it try, maybe we have some Svengoolie fans on the board, or MSTies who enjoy the movies that might want to gab about the these types.
For horror and sci-fi, and other B movies that you might want to talk about.
A pictures are welcome too.

Just watched a movie I'd never seen and never heard of. The Monster That Challenged the World (1957)An army of giant mollusks emerge from California's Salton Sea! This is the kind of flick you might have seen on the early half of season 8 - and it's actually pretty decent. There are a few off moments -those "other dimension" shots referenced in MST, a couple of bad dolls standing in for humans, a crappy edit here and there (creature stares and stares at 2 men, then suddenly, without moving much, it has one man in its grasp?) It can take its time with science stuff, but I do like how it builds up the mystery and terror (people just disappear, one minute your talking to them, the next... gone). Tim Holt (The Magnificent Ambersons, Treasure of the Sierra Madre) is in it, directed by a guy who did a couple of Planet of the Apes movies from the 80s (that I've never seen). The creatures look good, they are full sized creations, with creepy gelatinous eyes. One of the working titles was "The Kraken", which one of the characters pronounce as Kray-ken I watched it here... ok.ru/video/195845622492

That's hilarious, I didn't know they did that! I watch Sven here and there, but missed that. Last weeks movie on Sven was one I remember from my youth (The Cult of the Cobra) which had several faces that would look familiar to MST. I don't believe I've seen next weeks film, "How to Make a Monster"

That's not the only time Trace & TV's Frank appeared on Svengoolie. The Svengoolie Stomp with Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon

Thanks I was about to post that one too.
Freddy Cannon had a song in Village of the Giants which ironically was cut from the MST3k version.

Freddie rocks! It's a bummer they cut that song - that was one of my favorite things about the movie - the score, the music. But maybe they couldn't come up with much to say for the scene.... other than perhaps whiplash jokes? And Trace and Frank's reaction in the Svengoolie video reminds me of the bewildered look they gave Joel during a Pod People skit.

I changed the header, to include A pictures, or you know, if you wanted to talk classic sci-fi (like Day the Earth Stood Still) I tried another big bug flick The Strange World of Planet X (1958)Aka "Cosmic Monsters" - This was shown as part of a double feature with The Crawling Eye, both films starred Forrest Tucker. It was alright, though a slow starter. It had one scene where a bug eats a guys face down to the bone. That must have caused a stir in 1958. Dandy Nichols was in it, she was in a lot of stuff, including a cameo in the Beatles Help! and a part in Adam Ant's "Goody Two Shoes" video. Martin Benson (Goldfinger) was another recognizable face.

When I was growing up. Part of my Yute from 1971-74 was spent in the timber town of Coquille, Oregon. Located in the southwestern part of the state about 18 miles from the beach. We really didn't have a horror host per-say. But there was one local and small TV station in Coos Bay. That had a Friday night monster theater. Called The Bandon House of Fear. The house of fear, was the old Coquille, River, Lighthouse located near Bandon Oregon. The show voiced by a local newsman named Gordon Shaw. Who was built and sounded a lot like William Conrad of Cannon or First Alert smoke detector fame. I still remember his booming voice "The Bandon House Of Fear" with the boos of ghosts and other scary creatures in the background. With the lighthouse as the backdrop. This was the early 70's and the lighthouse itself was pretty much eroding away to the elements. The staircase to the place has been gone for decades. It was full of graffiti on the inside. Possibly the outside too. But I do not remember. Since then it has become more of a tourist attraction. So its been cleaned up a lot. But when we were kids the legend became that the lighthouse was haunted. But only at night. Because you could go inside during the daytime.. LOL I told you all that long story so I can continue with another long one. Sorry LOL I saw the movie The Legend of Boggy Creek in Coquille, Oregon, in 1972 or maybe 73. It took awhile for movies to get there. The theater was only open on Friday, Saturday night and for the Sunday matinee. I remember kids being scared to walk home after the movie. Like I said small town. My dad was a deputy sheriff for Coos County at the time. He said that for weeks if not months afterwards they were getting calls from loggers, campers and others about them "Seeing Something" out in the woods. One of those movies where all of us kids talked about it the next week in school.

I've been to Bandon several times, I liked the rock formations, and probably been to that lighthouse. So, cool stories there. When I lived in Nashville, this was our horror host...

Zacherle's a name you hear a lot when they talk about famous hosts. One that intrigues me is Moona Lisa from San Diego (L.A. and briefly St. Louis) from '63 to '73 - from stories I've read from those who watched her, she sounded like a great host. I liked the concept and her catch phrases, and she had a great voice from what you can hear from that 17 second clip that survives (too bad so much of this history is lost, stations would erase the shows and reuse the tape). A blog piece... glitternight.com/2011/08/26/movie-hosts-moona-lisa-2/And photos... glitternight.com/2017/08/14/moona-lisa-pictures-courtesy-of-john-l/And of course, there's Count Floyd.

^ On topic but i was watching some episodes of John Candy's cartoon Camp Candy and he actually reprised his Dr. Tongue character for one(the very first episode in the vid). They even do the cheesy 3333333DDDDDDDDDDDDD gag with mundane items. Sadly Count Floyd was busy on Ed Grimley's cartoon.
