We're finally ready to make our plans official for our meetup in Denver.
Friday, June 1st through Sunday, June 3rd.
[glow=red,2,300]TRANSPORTATION:[/glow]
Fly into Denver International Airport. Frontier and Southwest are your cheapest bets.
Rental cars are highly recommended.
There is a shuttle from the airport to the hotel for a fee (see the hotel website). I am happy to pick people up from the airport, on a first come, first served basis.
We will be carpooling throughout the weekend. Thanks to those driving in and those renting cars, there should be enough vehicles for everyone.
Public transportation is reasonable, and buses are plentiful.
[glow=red,2,300]HOUSING:[/glow]
The hotel of choice is the Doubletree in Aurora.
Our group rate is $79 a night. Use of a meeting room for episode watching will run us $250 if we want it.
When you make your reservations, ask for the "Atari Party". If you've already made reservations, just call and ask to be put in the Atari Party. (**NOTE: the hotel may not have our party's info set up until Tuesday, Feb. 13.)
For campers, the recommended site is the Cherry Creek State Park. Reserve early, as summer camping weekends fill up fast.
[glow=red,2,300]ACTIVITIES:[/glow]
Friday:
Day Activity:
Denver sight-seeing (US Mint, Art Museum, shopping, zoo, etc).
or
Mountain Excursion (drive up Mt. Evans).
Dinner:Texas Road House
Evening: Episode viewing.
Saturday:
Day Activity:
Denver sight-seeing
or
Mountain Excursion (drive to St. Mary's Glacier)
Dinner: Casa Bonita
Sunday
Day Activity
Anything you still want to do.
(I work Sundays, so I can't join in until the afternoon. Of course, you're all invited to come to my church in the morning if that's your thing...)
All activities are optional. These are activities with planned transportation. The Friday dinner and at least one mountain trip are highly recommended. There are lots of entertainment options and restaurants near the hotel, as well.
Other (unofficial and unconfirmed) possibilities:
Recording session. Visiting the Atari homestead. Episode watching/party at a friend's house (with a big screen). Late night Observer's Brain debates over Guinness. And much, much more.
Let the excitement begin!
Sorry for the intrusion, Mr. A, but I thought we should have the attendee list handy.
