It's Tuesday, and I'm filling in at the last minute for our regularly scheduled contest host.
I like trivia contests, and I'm also a child of the 80s; so think like me, and you might win 3 DVDs from Skyroniter.
All answers are to be PMed to me. Any answers posted in this thread will result in instant disqualification and quite possibly instant karma.
Here you go (all questions refer to the 1980s):
1) What NBC Game show featured a round called the "Fame Game"?
2) What Saturday morning cartoon based on a video game featured the characters Wheels and Roadie?
3) What Atari 2600 game featured an enemy named "Qotile"?
4) In the board game Trivial Pursuit, what were the original categories and what were there respective colors?
5) What event occured on January 28, 1986?
6) What artist had number 1 hits in six consecutive years (1980-1985), and what were the songs?
7) Who were the Bears playing when Walter Payton became the all-time rushing leader?
8) What short-lived Elliott Gould sitcom featured a then-unknown George Clooney?
9) In "Better Off Dead", what does Lane's mom get him for Christmas? What does she get his dad?
10) The episode of "Family Ties" when Alex's girlfriend leaves him spawned a number 1 hit. What was the song, and who performed it?
The person with the most correct answers wins. In the event of a tie, I will pick the winner out of a hat.

i was wondering about the charts too. I already turned in my answers because I couldn't find ANYONE on ANY american charts who only met that. There were people on specialty charts (Country for example) that exceeded the feat.

It's tricky. And it's probably the only one that google won't help you on. But it's the U.S. charts; standard Billboard top 40.

Thanks for putting up the contest, Samptari. I had meant to do it this morning but completely forgot.

...I happen to actually _have_ an original Trivial Pursuit game--yep, first edition, got it at a garage sale--and also a Billboard Book of Number One Hits. But I don't have the colours or, sad to say, (given that I pride myself on my knowledge about pop/rock history and trivia, especially from the '80s) the exact artist with the hits in a row, memorised. Well, I don't need to win this contest anyway. But I just _want_ to join in.
If you own an original Trivial Pursuit game, are you allowed to go dig it out of the closet and look at it? (snicker) I may do that just for my own curiosity, anyway. And get the book down off the shelf.
I'm fairly sure of the question about the video-game-based cartoon, the Atari one, and I _know_ I know the Family Ties one. Other than that, however...I need to hang my head with shame and turn in my Child of the '80s badge. I'm obviously nowhere near as good at this as I thought. :P

Don't feel bad, cleo. I'm sure most people are just googling or visiting wikipedia for their answers. Some call it cheating, others call it research. Deep in my heart, I know the difference.

Oh, one more thing.
The last time I ran a contest, some folks had problems PM-ing me. If you do a name search, you'll find quite a few variations on the name "sampo". I'm the one with all lower-case letters.
Or, you can skip the name search, and simply click my "Mr. Atari" name to your left. It's in orange, so it's easy to spot.

Well in that case...I'm gonna use the rule of: If you have something physically in your house that you can look it up in, then you can, because you get "points" for even having something so obscure in the first place. (Well, the Billboard book isn't _obscure_, but you'd have to be really interested in rock trivia to actually pop for that big heavy thing.) Otherwise, if you can't dredge it out of your own brain, you don't answer the question.
I mean, hey. It's not _fun_ if you can just get everything instantly. :P And by the way, I went and looked in my book and I think I know the answer to the music question now. (It was one of the artists I had guessed ahead of time as possibilities, too.) Bwahaha...
Now to find out where the heck we put that game. Heh.

i've got to say the music question is driving me up the wall. i know that's lame since i already turned in my answers, but it's still driving me nuts.

I wish to express my most heartfelt apologies for my tardiness. Mr. Atari jumped in like a trooper and I'm grateful for that, and I will make it up at a later date.
I shall commence the ritual flogging now. Good luck to all!

I've received a few entries, but not many.
A couple people have #6 correct, complete with songs, so it's not impossible, but no one has a perfect score yet.
So there's still hope and a good chance for anyone who wants 3 free MST DVDs.
Contest will end on Sunday, March 26th at Noon Mountain Standard Time.

With # 6 Mr. Atari, as I told you in my PM, I couldn't exactly find what you were looking for, but came awfully close. I guess there is just something I was missing with the years and such.
