Oh, come on. I know I'm not the only gamer at this message board. I'm just wondering what you've been playing, what your favorite games are, and what your philosophy about gaming is. I'll begin.
As I said earlier, I'm a console man. I've been seriously gaming since I was in 6th grade, seven or eight years ago. Of the big three, the only one I personally own is the Playstation 2, but I have limited access to the Gamecube and Xbox through family members. The PS2's my favorite due to its library, but I'll play games on any platform. They're all really cool.
I'm a huge Castlevania fanatic. I hold this series in higher esteem than even MST3K. The only blemish in Castlevania's long history are the two N64 titles, which were both below average, though the first one garnered good reviews when it first came out. The PS2 Vania, though it didn't sell too well, was great, second best in the series if you ask me, trailing only behind what is widely thought of as one of the top 10 games of all time, Symphony of the Night.
Currently I'm playing through the Onimusha series. I've beaten the first two games and am now tackling the third (and last). All the games in this series are a blast, some of the best action games of this generation, although I've never played the hallowed Ninja Gaiden for Xbox, which is supposed to be a little better.

Correction: River Raid owns you all. With Gauntlet coming in a close second. "Warrior needs food badly". Whenever we talk about video games I really feel like an old man. I mean like phantom or Dr. Z old.

Actually, Seaquest is pretty cool too.

River Raid is definately one of the best Atari 2600 games ever. I also love Kaboom!, but the controls absolutely suck in the PS2 compilation.

Just finished all the games in the LOTR trilogy for PS2. Awesome games, I must say. Great controls, great graphics, everything. Now, I'm playing Max Payne 2. Pretty good, dark, gritty, everything the original was.
Also, playing NCAA 2005. Can't beat some good college football action.

I mean like phantom or Dr. Z old. Fort Apocalypse on the Atari 800. That game rocked. And M.U.L.E. Oh yeah, and Star Raiders. Pioneer of the space-combat genre.

Was there any rock climbing levels? Not really, they skipped over most of it. There were levels where you had to run up rocks and sorta climb them, but, they weren't nearly as boring as in the movie. Servo

Still waiting for Blizzard to get over their World of Warcraft frenzy so they can make Starcraft 2. Until then, I'll play my simulation versions of Ultima III, IV, and V, thank you very much.
And sampo...the new Guantlets aren't bad. But my dream is still someday to own one of the original arcade versions.

Hmm... I tend to be a strategy/RPG gamer. Age of Mythology is one of the best games from this field. The one I'm doing now is called Empires: Dawn of the Modern Age. I've been toying off and on with creating a game called "Generic RPG" which would mock some of the conventions of RPGs. After a while, they tend to have a lot of similar elements.

I don't know if you're talking about owning an actual arcade machine, but if not there's a game called Midway Arcade Treasures for the PS2 that has the original Gauntlet on it. Of course you'd have to get a PS2, but if it's worth it to you...
