I realize that my status as an unproven "n00b" may work against me in some way, but here goes nothing!
213 Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster - I chose this episode because 212 was my first exposure to MST (I didn't quite understand it at the time because I was like eight, but I do remember finding it hilarious), and I've always been curious as to how Joel and the bots fared with the task of doing back-to-back Godzilla flicks. Additionally, I fear that this will never see commercial release due to TOHO's strict licensing policies...unless Krypton has the rights to this one as well.
319 War of the Colossal Beast - Similar to my first pick, I'm afraid that rights issues will probably prevent this sure-to-be gem from ever being released under Rhino. Anywho, as if Glen Manning's continuing struggle with his Amazing Colossal Diaper wasn't amusing enough, we also get the legendary Mr. B Natural short to boot (which I know is already on DVD, but can one really ever get enough of the uncomfortable sexual undertones prevalent in this 1957 classic?)! I've always had a soft spot for the giant creature/man/woman type of sci-fi, and would love to add this episode to my collection.
402 Giant Gila Monster - I'm not sure if I should really admit this, but I purchased and viewed a copy The Giant Gila Monster without ever seeing the MSTied version. With that in mind, I have been dying to see how J&TBs riff off of this zany mess of a film. Plus, how can you go wrong with "Ren Fest" punching bags?

322 - Master Ninja I: I've never seen this episode and have heard alot of good things about it, so naturally i'd like to see it. I haven't seen too many Season threes, and as I've loved all the episodes i've seen of that season so far, i'd like to see more.
324 - Master Ninja II: Again, never seen, heard good things. Plus, if you're going to go ahead and get Master Ninja I, why not get II as well? 422 - Day the Earth Froze: This one i've only seen the short of but even if the movie riffing is crap the short would make this COMPLETELY worth having. I like watching MST3K with my family, and as they are primarily Joel fans (and definitely NOT Sci-Fi era fans) I could really use some more episodes not Mike.

I realize that my status as an unproven "n00b" may work against me in some way, but here goes nothing! Hey Goat !, As one Aug. `06 joiner to another, that's some rather eloquent, evocative writing for an unruly, unproven nOOb ! Your feeling that your status would work against you is only natural when 1st stepping out on to the ice here, but I suggest you shed that caution soon, as your articulations left nothing to be desired !....unlike my 1st few where i let similar trepidations bring about a different result. Namely over-packed n' polished postings that brought out some "huh" in a few responders. I should take a cue from you & just B Natural. (of course my ) natural style is still Unearthly and doesn't sit well w/ The Rebel Set !, guess I'm just an Outlaw)

The pain in the butt thing is, I already own my favorite non-Rhino Joel episodes so I really don't need another copy of them. Oh what the heck ...I did once loose about five Mst3k tape episodes in a grease fire. I suppose it could happen again.
Fire Maidens From Outer Space - This is a classic, not just because we are treated to the sight of Maidens dancing in pseudo underwear ( though of course the best dancing underwear maidens are in Manos) but who can forget the introduction of Crow's dark subconcious nemesis. Makes you ponder about your own evil dark side, doesn't it?
Double 007 - For the same reason another terribly wise Misite posted in this thread somewhere. Joel's I knoooow. Cracks me up every time.
Master Ninja 1 - The Riffs here were only decent ...but my favorite was the appearence of that smug arrogant Van Patton idiot (I'm not trying to be mean. It's not his fault he's an idiot.) He was one of the most undeservingly pompous characters I've seen in any movie let alone Mst3k. However the airport operator from San Francisco International and the truck driving hero from Riding With Death get an honerable mention for arrogance.
So ...Do I win? Huh? Do I? ;D

113 The Black Scorpion 203 Jungle Goddess 314 Mighty Jack
Many people feel that the Russo/Finnish movies are masterpieces, others enjoy the comic Japanese imports. I came late to the Mexican movies that MST showcased and my goodness are they fun. In all my years of collecting the works of MST I somehow always overlooked 113. This is an oversight I would like to rectify as soon as possible. 203, The Jungle Goddess was an unfortunate trade for me. I sent off my very good copies to a trader and in return got a nearly unwatchable copy of Jungle Goddess. I remember it being very good, as the white man/native things always are (I like how they always take the superior white guys down a peg). But I'd like to see it again on a good copy. Lastly 314. Mighty Jack has always held a certain mystique which it most certainly cannot live up to. They always were referencing it on other episodes which of course made me want to see it, then there's our own Mighty Jack here at the forum not that that individual necessarily makes me want to see it, but if you're willing to use it as your name, I find it worth investigating. Somehow before, there was always something else on the short list I was trading for and this neglect I'd like to rectify. Thank you for your listening ear.

So ...Do I win? Huh? Do I? ;D I like your choices, and your explanations are very good. I think you're going to go far here. Unfortunately, you included this egregious misstep: See page 4 of this thread for more info. Which leads me to a good tip- the more you know about me, the better your chances of winning. That is to say, feel free to butter me up and steer clear of my pet peeves.

If I could choose three Joel episodes, they would be: The Black Scorpion - because this was the first episode I remember seeing on CC. Because I love Willis O'Brien films (even when they are being mocked). Because I think they did a great job on the riffing. And because I believe this will never come out as a Rhino release (just a gut feeling). It Conquered the World - because it's my favorite after Wild Rebels and I think it's quintessential MST3K....right down to the repeating of Peter Graves' speech. Stranded In Space - just because I happen to love this unappreciated episode - and remember watching this as a kid with my Mom.

Mine's are entirely for selfish reasons (my copies ain't great):
The Crawling Eye: Only lasts for about 90 minutes instead of Season 1's usual 100 minutes.
The Mad Monster: Same
Master Ninja 1: The quality just ain't great!
As I said selfish reasons as the Non-Rhino Joel eps I love are all in great nick!

501 Warrior of the Lost World: I am really into the 70's tv movies but i am also really into bad 80's sci fi. One of the main reasons i want to see this is for the fact that it is an italian film. I am huge into Italian cinema, the good and the bad. Plus i would like to see Joel take on another Italian movie (since i thought Cave Dwellers was pretty funny, gotta love Joe D'Amato).
405 Being From Another Planet: Two words, Ben Murphy. After seeing Riding With Death i have had a soft spot for Ben Murphy and how mellow he is. I can only image how mellow he could be as a Professor. Plus, once again it is an 80's flick. I don't think i could ever get tired of those cheesy 80's flicks.
208 Lost Continent: I love this episode! I have a copy of it but my copy looks horrible and for some strange reason skips sometimes during the episode (some riffs are actually started then it skips a few seconds so the rest of the riff can't be heard). It has always been like this since i received the copy so i know it isn't a scratched disk. I would really like to get an upgrade so i can get my fix of rock climbing.

The three episodes I would like to win are all based on the infamy of their host segments.
Ep 307--Daddy-O: Button won't stay pushed. I hear that back in the day, a real stink was raised when Comedy Central played "Coming Up Next..." promos over this final segment.
Ep 317--Viking Women vs. The Sea Serpent: The waffle episode. I've seen the outtakes from Poopie! and the Waffles Song from Tom Servo's Favorite Host Segments Vol I (or was it on the Play MST for Me disc? I don't remember....) and have wanted to see this episode ever since.
Ep 419--The Rebel Set: The great Merritt Stone mystery! Poor Servo's head explodes trying to answer the question Who is Merritt Stone?

My choices are as follows:
310: Fugitive Alien. I don't already have a copy. Does any reverent MSTie need a better reason than this?
323: Castle of Fu Manchu. I don't already have a copy. PLUS--and this is a big one--this episode is so universally reviled that, you know, I simply HAVE to see it for myself.
324: Master Ninja II: I need to find out what happens to the hamster. And, besides, I don't already have a copy.

What a great contest. This is very easy for me:
My favorite episodes of all time are without a doubt:
#1 and #2) Master Ninja I and Master Ninja II. The "chemistry" between Van Cleef and Van Patten, the Lee stunt double, "Master Ninja Theme Song," Tim's speech impediment. It's the most enjoyable 4 hours of any show or film that I've ever seen. "Concentrate!"
#3) How can Sid Melton not choose: The Lost Continent. This was one of the first episodes I watched. I've always been a huge fan of MST3K experiments that featured extended bits. The "rock climbing" sequence may be my favorite in the show's history. Best moment of the episode for me takes place when Joel, after calming down Crow and Servo, finally loses it. "Who are you?! Where are we? Can we get a frame of reference?!? PLEASE?!?" Also, Sid Melton's comic relief is not to be missed.

Oooh, I like this contest!
#1.) 208 - Lost Continent Before there was sandstorm, there was.... ROCK CLIMBING! The mind-numbingly long rock climbing scene is one of the most memorable sequences in all of MST. The amazing frustration that the guys are experiencing is dead on. This episode truly made it feel like you were watching three guys being tortured by bad movies. While not rock climbing, this film has some stop-motion dinosaurs that eat guys, which is always great riffing material. Joel resisted going into the theater in this one, I guess he just had a feeling. The host segments have some of the best of season two, especially Hugh Beaumont's apocalyptic message on the hexfield. Also, I'm a big fan of the viewer contests, and the "Cool Thing Out the Window" is one of the best. One of my favorite, and most underrated episodes of the show.
#2.) 306 - Time of the Apes Joel tells me that I should really just relax, and Johnny doesn't even care, so why should I love this episode? Because it's a "Planet of the Apes" rip-off of course! Actually, its better than that, its a Japanese, SANDY FRANK "Planet of the Apes" rip-off! What more could you want?! Well, theres crappy make-up, terrible dubbing, mysterious UFOs, and little Johnny who just doesn't care. The guys are in top form in this episode, even though Mike has said that it was one of the toughest episodes to write. They did resort to plenty of "crap-flinging" jokes, but the movies so goofy that I, just like little Johnny, don't care.
#3.) 309 - The Amazing Colossal Man It's Mr. B.I.G. at his finest, which is kinda true seeing that this is probably the closest he ever got at a decent movie. The shocking story of Colonel Glen Manning and his diapers! This is an episode that, like many of season three, has an inexplainable charm to it. The riffing is not the greatest it's ever been, but the movie is just too perfect. The film captures bad 50's films as good as any I've ever seen. The definite highlights of this episode, however, are the host segment. Crow and Tom's "robots only" fort is exactly what being a little kid who builds a fort is all about, not letting "certain" people come in. "Robert Plant" is one of my favorite inventions ever, probably because I'm a Zeppelin fan. Both Joel and Mike get to portray Glen in a way in this episode, and Mikes is an all-time classic. Overall, a very fun episode, and makes a great double billing with 319 - "War of the Colossal Beast."
So, there it is... ;D 309 doesn't count as a Rhino episode, does it?
