So, there it is... ;D 309 doesn't count as a Rhino episode, does it? If skyroniter offers it, it's legal. Well, not exactly "legal", but you know what I mean...

317 - Viking Women Vs. The Sea Serpent Can you believe that I *STILL* haven't seen the Waffles episode? This is a public guilt that I need to rectify.
319 - War Of The Colossal Beast Can you believe that I *STILL* haven't seen the Mr. B Natural episode? This is another public guilt requiring immediate rectification.
305 - Stranded In Space Can you believe that I *STILL* haven't seen the episode where...um....where the thing is...something. Dang it, I wanted to use the word "rectify" again!

OK, here's my list. What these choices have in common is that I used to have them on tape...until they got too old.
1. Gamera....the SOL's first nightmare genre. I know the crew had to see an endless parade of this big turtle in the KTMA years and on Comedy Central But the first time is the one you don't forget.
2. Untamed Youth....I got a tape of this from a trader because I wanted to see something from the first season. What struck me is not only Mamie Van Doren trying to be Marilyn Monroe and maybe Betty Grable, but the strange love between the judge who sends Mamie to the prison farm and the life-size action figure named Tropp who runs the place. Creepy!
3. Tormented...Bert I. Gordon tries to do film noir, and looks dumb doing it.

1) Lassie, The Painted Hills: This one seems to have a lot of love on the board. It's also the last, non-Rhino Joel episode, if that means anything. When I was a kid, our neighbors through the backyard had a fenced in yard in which a collie roamed. She took a lot of the shine off any home runs hit during whiffle ball games, because we knew the ball would be irretrievable. So, I'm looking for any movie in which collies run into trouble. I also wanted to see the "Body Care" short because I don't recall ever watching it. Can't really think of any other shorts I've not yet seen.
2) Girl in Lover's Lane: I've seen bits and pieces of this on Shoutcast, but not the whole thing. Again, I think it's the whole end-of-Joel-era thing.
3) The Human Duplicators: This one was tough to pick. I've found that Mighty Jack's grades are generally pretty reliable and he gives this one a "platinum" rating, so I'm going with it. I

Okey, here goes.
213- Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster Of all the movies msted during the show's run, this is the only one I actually own. It is also my top favorite movie of all time. If I could have this episode, I'd die happy.
309- The Amazing Colossal Man This sounds like a great epsiode, and it seems that there are many references to it that I'd understand better if I could see this. And the review on mst3k.com sounds awesome.
423- Bride of the Monster "Hired!" the musical, I really wanna see that. And I really want to know what Crow dreams of. It also seems like these episodes won't be making it onto dvd anytime soon, so why not own them?

My choices are as follows:
510 - The Painted Hills 505 - The Magic Voyage of Sinbad 302 - Gamera
The reason for these choices are the same. My niece's birthday is in 2 weeks and I think these would be some good episodes for a 3 yr old and try to start turning her into a mystie. Her father(my brother) would probably like that.

Okay, let's get in on this thing...
319: War of the Colossal Beast
Why? Because I watched half of Mr B. Natural on Youtube. My brain exploded. Eight times. I still get flashbacks to the scary man-woman.
309: The Amazing Colossal Man
Why? Because I'm the kind of geek.. guy.. who really would have to see the first film, before War.... Besides, I hear it's actually a pretty decnt sci-fi flick. As far as can be measured on the Bert I. Gordon Sliding Scale of Lameness, that is.
423: Bride of the Monster
Why? C'mon, Eddie Wood? Lobo carressing angora like a huge, sweating plushie? The fatal lamp-shade-on-the-head trick? nd the fact I already own the actual flick on VHS. Pure Wood-ian genius.

It's probably too late to get in on this, but what the heck ...
304: Gamera vs. Barugon My first episode. Our cable company added Comedy Central in June '91. I had been seeing this and that, but I didn't notice MST right away. I flipped past one Saturday, and they were showing some black-and-white film. I couldn't figure out why that was running on CC, and I couldn't really see/wasn't paying enough attention to notice the shadowrama. Then one weekend I see a Gamera movie on. I hadn't seen one since I was a kid, so I stayed on the channel. Slowly, I noticed that the little shadows were talking back to the screen, and it was funny. The Rick James riff was the first that I remember really sending me to hysterics, and then there was Barugon drowning in his own gravy... The host segment that clinched it was the next-to-last, with Joel and the bots sitting on makeshift adirondack chairs, with Joel talking about all the "famous" people they got to appear in the film. I knew this was the show for me. (Of course, another reason I chose this was because my tape of this comes from an old two-head VCR, and the sound is mono and muddy.)
409 - The Indestructible Man An unsung episode. Since it's the second Undersea Kingdom, most people ignore it seemingly. The riffing is solid, with Joel & the bots breakdown over the never-ending date scene a highlight of revulsion. The Mads mis-identify the star as Arthur Duval from Catalina Caper, and this leads to scads of giggly riffs. (And yes, this is on the same tape as Gamera v Barugon. The other ep on the tape is Hercules against The Moon Men ... I know you're curious)
314 - Mighty Jack I didn't always love this episode. I used to try to follow the plot, get bored and ignore the riffs. Then I figured it out: just go with the flow. I let the riffs direct the plot, and years later I still laugh loudly at this episode. The same stable of Sandy Frank voice actors appears in this one, and I wish I knew who they were. Their voices are definitive to me. This episode features one of the more esoteric running riffs: The resemblence of one character to William Faulkner. "You: stunt left! You: slant right! You: Write The Sound and the Fury! Okay, go!"I'm almost far enough gone over this episode that I would actually like to see the entire Mighty Jack series (dubbed or subtitled, of course). (My tape is EP quality. I am curious, though, to see what Skyroniter's episode looks like, quality-wise. I have more than one DVD copy of this. In some ways, it's my benchmark episode for trader-quality.)

No one was a slam dunk winner.
Here's an example of an entry that would have won right away:
Dear Mr. Atari. I would like the following episodes-
First Spaceship on Venus- because it was your first episode and you're constantly complaining about the lack of love it gets.
The Day the Earth Froze- because I know you love the Russo-Finnish eps as well as Season 4 eps and because your original name comes from this ep.
Mighty Jack- because you love the season 3 Japanese eps and your current name comes from this ep.
Alas, no one showed this level of butt-kissing initiative, so the selection process went thusly:
First, I weeded out the entries with half-hearted or otherwise weak explanations. It was a key part of the rules, after all. Thank you to everyone who gave great reasons for their choices.
Second, I took the remaining names and put them in a hat. Mrs. Atari and the two Atari Kids each picked a name.
Lastly, those three names went back into the hat, and each Atari Kid picked one again. The name still in the hat is the winner.
And his name is...
Afgncaap5.
Enjoy your rectifying, Affy. Try to do it in the privacy of your own home.
Thanks for playing, everyone!
