I don't know. Mike had a few funny visual gags, though they were pretty much limited to the Sci-Fi era.

As for the the rest of the series, my guess would be somewhere in BBI's current office building.

It's possible to derive enjoyment from Krankor's laugh - it's halarious. Coily? Uh, a spawn of Satan. And quite annoying.

Sharing the tapes is a wonderful way to keep a show alive. There may be some episodes that may NEVER be released and that sharing is the only way they live on. But I don't think it should be used as an excuse to NOT buy the official release. As was stated above, things changed over the years. Still, if Rhino releases something you don't like and don't watch, then you have the right to decide NOT to buy it. (BTW: I will be buying this set, I'm just playing Devils advocate) Absolutely. It becomes a problem for me when one refuses to buy the official version because they already have an unofficial copy. I would just like to point out before someone gets the wrong impression that my post wasn't meant to aim at anyone in particular. DoctorZ said nothing to really indicate what I was implying. It was just my way of sparking the important and often complex argument about legalities.

The reason why Mike doesn't get much is because he's not part of BBI, and hasn't been since the show got cancelled. The money he got from Rhino was probably for the intros/interviews.
I don't know how much BBI gets. But I do know that it chose to let Rhino be MST3K's official home video outlet, and I also know that buying the official DVDs gives BBI money while downloading episodes gives them nothing. Arguing that "Rhino probably gave BBI a bad deal" is not valid; both companies came to a financial agreement, and I'm sure BBI, despite it being a very small company with little money, made the best possible deal for themselves as they could. This is the reason why the sets are so expensive: Rhino needs to get money while at the same time pay for the movie rights, and then BBI somehow gets a profit.
We all know that buying/selling fan tapes and downloading from the DAP is illegal, but BBI/Rhino/Us don't particularly care because we get the eps to complete are collections, to get copies that have not been released, and they're really not losing money on the deal. The DAP and others have honorable intentions, but no matter what way we want to look at it, it's still illegal (I'm not saying I haven't done it. I'm simply stating a fact).
But if we have an unofficial episode and then don't buy Rhino's DVDs because we already have them, or only like some of them and have the other ones anyway, you're screwing BBI over. It doesn't matter how crappy Rhino's releases are. You're supporting the company who produced the show you love when you buy from Rhino, and holding back on your purchase because you don't want the shorts discs and already have the eps from the DAP is wrong (to me ;D).

I don't see the need to purchase episodes I already have. So that you can replace unofficial copies with official ones thereby supporting the people who actually made the show rather than cheating them?

ANOTHER Essentials?! Nah, don't want Rhino to double-dip anymore. I don't expect it, and I wouldn't accept it. I believe (and hope) that the Essentials was a one time thing to package the top two voted episodes.

It's either Bill's Crow or Kevin's Servo for me.

But it seems quite odd that the final host segment of #K15-- Superdome is missing from seemingly every taped episode that exists. I think in most cases there was only one tape found from which all other copies were made.

Satellite News confirms that the project is still being worked on, but there's never been any real info on it. And if the release date is still scheduled for this year (which I doubt), I think it's weird that we've still heard nothing.
The only other video game I can think of that had this eery silence even right before its supposed release was Sam and Max: Freelance Police. But don't make me talk about it.

I'm sure that if there is a cut, it was already present in the tape that was sent to Rhino to be transferred.

There is an article in the current Rolling Stone. It's mostly about CDs but I've heard about DVD rot also. I may have some links to online articles. If I find them I'll post them here. DVD rot was known ever since the medium was announced. It's rare and generally not something to worry about if you take care of your discs. It's not simply the product of time; it's not really a degradation process.

YIKES!!! MST gets no respect! Err...I'm pretty sure this decision was not made as some sort of personal attack against MST3K - it's a business decision (MST3K isn't the only thing affected). Honestly, I'm surprised Rhino produced VHS tapes for this long.

...and if I dared throw out a riff or the slightest note of discomfort over the film, he would take it as a huge insult. When I told him he took his bad films way too seriously, he refused to speak to me for quite a while. Your story brings up a very important point that people must understand when watching MST3K: the movies are taken out of context and are teated unfairly. You have to accept the show on that level. Now, I'm fairly sure that many of you are like me and have no respect or appreciation for the majority of the movies shown on MST3K. But let's say you did. Let's say MST3K featured good movies. First of all, the movie is edited, and if I were honestly watching a movie and trying to judge it fairly or create some sort of artistic impression of it, I would watch it uncut. Imagine your favorite movie being featured on MST3K. I know I would still laugh at the episode, because I know beforehand that the film will just be totally ripped apart, and not always in a fair way. But who cares?! It's funny. Of course, with movies featured on MST3K being so downright horrid, this sort of situation rarely occurs, and the comments from Joel/Mike and the 'bots are, for the most part, completely called for. But we all know that some people have a certain appreciation (if only to a small degree) for movies like Devil Doll and This Island Earth. Complaints from people who were upset with Best Brains for making fun of these movies have always baffled me, because you know good and well when the episode starts what you can expect, and you should be able to enjoy it knowing that these movies are simply the excuse to make you laugh.
