I loved House of Leaves. I was working at Borders when it came out, and Poe and Mark came by to promote the album and book. They were super cool and sweet--Poe signed two posters for me, and Mark got a kick out of the fact that I lived on Elm Street in high school. Still have the posters and book. Book that gave me nightmares. Brief History is one of my favorites too, but the asteroid stuff is very disquieting, especially since asteroids apparently whizz merrily by our poor little planet day and night, barely missing us--the universe essentially shooting at our feet and bellowing "DANCE! DANCE!" I just polished off Sue Robison's Subtraction and can't wait to get my claws into her newest. Read Why Did I Ever... and you'll get hooked too. You simply can't put it down. The whole book is about a woman kinda sorta cracking up as she deals with her totally psychotic life, without ever losing her sense of humor. Sample: " I say to myself, " And let me remind you. The next time you go off in some purple flapjacksing haze, you are not to go wearing your good red-leather jacket. Because you don't always return to consciousness with it on. You know what I mean?" Ahh, quality. mrsphyllistorgo I'm very very jealous. I'd probably be fine with killing a stranger or two if it meant I'd get to meet Mark and Poe. Where do you live? JG

I'm currently reading: House of Leaves. A very strange and frightening book. Written by Mark Z. Danielewski. It's about this family that move into a house that suddenly after several weeks of living in it begins to internally grow in size, but fromthe outside mysteriously stay the same. Hallways and giant Cathedral like chambers appear strangley defying the laws of physics. Isn't it a great book. Do you have Poe's Album Haunted? it's based on the book. Mark is her brother. I just finished reading the Game of Thrones series, it's about a huge war that breaks out in a fuedal world when the king dies and everyone thinks they have a claim to the throne.

Other than present day mods and adminitrators I was one of the first here.
Oddly enough I noticed Gesture Professor registered around the same time I did, but I don't remember seeing him post till much more recently.
Gesture, can I call you Gesture? Were you a long time lurker or is my memory bad?

I read a spell from the Necronomicon to banish the evil from the woods surrounding my cabin, but I ended up being sucked through a portal and ended up here surrounded by MSTies. Hey, that's how I got here! No actually, my real story is pretty boring, I happened to be looking at the scifi board, something I did about once ever six months and saw a message from Forrest or someone about a new board and when I checked it out I was one of the first few posters. Yeah but Tom the Democrates didn't go to war solely to line their own pockets and distract the people from the fact that they weren't looking very hard for bin Laden.
A lot of innocent kids have died in Iraq because the Republicans don't seem to care about the American people.

It seems to be one of those things most people remember so I'm kind of depressed that my college doesn't have anyone cool. I'm very jealous of two other area colleges.
One has Samuel L Jackson, and the other Robert Redford.

hey Shawn
You've got a song about Kari Wuhrer. Is there any way I can hear that one?
How many other Wuhrer fans are out there?

Because he's a good guy, I gotta vote for Ator.
It's all about who you know in this business.
