Well, there's Gene Roth who, according to Joel, is "the sheriff in everything", which I really think is true sometimes, at least in classic '50s "B" horror and sci-fi. He basically plays the same kind of grumpy, irascible character in every picture. As well as Gene Roth nails the type, though, my favorite MSTied movie sheriff would have to be Alan Hale Jr., who plays a sheriff in The Crawling Hand and Giant Spider Invasion -- the first time, pre- Gilligan, entirely serious and straight and the second time, as his career was circling the drain, completely tongue-in-cheek, basically playing the Skipper playing a sheriff. I like to think that Alan Hale Jr.'s actually the same character. In The Crawling Hand he figured he could handle most anything that'd come his way in this new gig, and then Giant Spiders come along. Also, nice use of "irascible." That word needs to come up more often.

Yeah, the movies that the bots made Mike watch are one of my favorite little 4th-wall leanings in the show. Sure, I *could* come up with a convoluted reason for why they didn't later reference that Mike'd already seen that movie, but... seems a lot of work for a show where I already don't wonder how they're breathing. Or what about the times when Mike references a film that was shown during the Joel era? Mike: "That looks like Jet Jaguar." Crow: "How would you know?" Ah, which episode is that in? As for how Mike knew... it's possible Mike's just a fan of Godzilla flicks.

I hate you. Your motives are suspect. Actually, they're poopie. Screw you all in the butt. I... can't tell if that's actual vitriol or an attempt to bait someone into another Uranus joke.

I'm sorry, did you even LOOK at my The Wine Was Golden Mediasch thread? That's awesome comedy gold, my friend. We're living in a golden age. Golden. Age.

Wait, now there's a second Kenny Rogers thread. But... wait, maybe this one was first and had been here the whole time? I'm less sure about what to do now, though we probably only need one thread. If either.
I'm...
...
...I don't know which to move.

You know... now that you mention it, there is a passing resemblance.

I'm... missing the connection to MST3K here, apart from their propensity to mention him on the show. Is there an episode where they sang these lyrics I'm not familiar with? Should I move this topic to a different board? I'm... not sure what's happening.
I curse my lack of familiarity with every single MST3K episode. Such indecision it causes in my life.
Edit: TUSK!

I've been watching Eureka. I always wanted to watch it when it was on, but didn't have cable. It's fun getting into it... it's well constructed, but it's not taking itself too seriously (and it reinforces my theory that paranormal shows that don't necessarily deal with the occult regularly should have some sort of ethereal whistling in the theme music. See also: X-Files, Gravity Falls.)

I think "right people" is more about the individual jokes than the show itself, honestly. If the host or bots say something that you don't understand, that's fine... wait another minute or two, you'll get it.
Also, general tone in general is a great way to think about the show.

Yeah, the extra 30 minutes was nice. And, weirdly, it's all that I saw.
Ironically, I missed it because I've been attending a class on TV and Film writing, it got out at 10, and it took me an hour and a half to get home.
I've not seen the final episode yet. But it's sad. I won't miss him as much as I still miss Craig Ferguson, but I'll definitely miss him. His ability to agonizingly craft something that appears to be "good enough for tonight" was great. There were a few years where I felt like it was a bit of a rut, but... all in all, an amazing career by a talented mind.
Now, to go and see the last Top Ten.

I've been going to Second City's training center this month. It's simultaneously just what I expected and not.

Most movies aren't Red, actually. Most are watched.
