I got my copy today. The photo gallery is actually very nice. Many I've never seen before. The "Poopie! II" is only 15 minutes, but still good. And there are 15 song skits (Just like "Play MSTie For Me"). Overall, a nice batch of extras. The cover, of course, sucks. The dinosaur with the dog tag cover would have worked if they had included FUTURE WAR. While I know Swamp Diamonds is PD, the short "What To Do On A Date" actually had to be licensed! The disc art is themed for each episode (and, for once, they're actually numbered in the correct episode order!!). Godzilla vs. Megalon - sushi (pretty lame IMO) Swamp Diamonds - a pair of handcuffs Teen-Age Strangler - an old fashioned phone Giant Spider Invasion - a garden spider The menus are ok, the Giant Spider Invasion one has some bad-looking CGI spiders running around.

Actual pictures of Joel &TB or Mike &TB would grab people's eyes better than their super-lame (and unrelated/random) ones.
Of course in the end it's the disc transfers and such that matter. But it'd be nice to see the show marketed better.

They screwed up with the cover. Lazy bastards. Yeah, the cover sucks (like most all of the Rhino covers IMO).

I dont hate this cover nearly as much as previous volumes and was surprised they actually used something from the show. Including the poster art was LONG overdue, and I'm glad to see that. It would appear they had to cover up most of the CLONUS poster, though I'm not sure why.
But Crow does look queer without his legs, and the naked statue is just as stupid and out of place as the chilidog on Vol. 9 and the toilet on Vol. 11. It's a slight improvement, but they still have a long way to go...

tvshowsondvd.com is now reporting a Oct. 30th release date for the set. I wonder what's going on? The October 2nd release date wasn't really an official announcement and was tentative to begin with. I don't think anything is going on (Especially considering Rhino's history for changing release dates).

Almost less than a month till it comes out and still no cover art?!? That's not a bad thing. I'd prefer them just to package future volumes with a plain brown cover with the MST3k logo and episode titles listed on it. That would be WAYY better than the sh*t covers they came up with for Vol. 8, 9, 10, and especially 11. "An injured boxturtle" could come up with better (and actually MST3k-themed) cover art.

Maybe this means Danger Death Ray can come out too Yes, this release does give more hope that they will release DANGER DEATH RAY (which I finally found out who may have the rights).

Just in case anyone was wondering about how the episode's scored on Rhino's most wanted poll: Parts: The Clonus Horror: #19 The Starfighters: #67 Secret Agent Super Dragon: #82 The Rebel Set: #131 Again it doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to how Rhino's releasing the episodes, but I am glad to see at least one top 20 episode. Does that really matter though? I think the poll was just to give Rhino a rough idea of what episodes fans wanted. It would be interesting if they did another poll (by now more fans would have seen most-of or the entire series thanks to DVD-R and DAP).

. I was also curious to see how Rhino got the rights to Clonus since it was released on DVD by another company a couple of years ago right around the time The Island came out. I'm buying this one quick in case it gets pulled because of that. Mondo Macabro released CLONUS on DVD in 2005 (And then re-released it in 2006). Rhino got the rights from them (or from whoever Mondo Macabro licensed it from). So it's legit either way. I can pretty much assure you this set won't get pulled because of CLONUS. Vol. 10 was pulled because Krypton International thought they could sublicense GODZILLA VS. MEGALON to Rhino, Vol. 1 and 3 were out of print (and are supposed to be going back in to print) because the Crown International title rights expired , and Vol. 9 was most likely pulled because Krypton International thought they had WOMEN OF THE PREHISTORIC PLANET... when really Wade Williams/Corinth Films should have the home video rights to that.
Anyhow.. this set is gonna rule. While doubtful, I hope the cover art doesn't suck as much as.. well... the last 8 or so box sets!

I think the short time gap between Vol. 11 & 12 might be due to Vol. 11 being released 4 months later than originally planned. My guess is that it's because 3 or 4 of the movies on V-11 are public domain...which most likely saved Rhino time & money, allowing them to quickly move on to V-12. Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. All four were public domain titles. And on Vol. 12, THE REBEL SET and quite possibly THE STARFIGHTERS are PD too. This set is good enough for me. The only one I've seen is Clonus, so there should be a lot of freshness here. Be patient with Starfighters. It will kill you the first couple of times. It's worth the patience, though. Oh, and by "kill you," I mean it will literally destroy your soul, not that it will kill you with laughter. It's hilarious once you learn to get past the mind-numbing nothingness of the "movie." Wow, I seem to be one of the few people who die laughing everytime they watch the episode. The badness of the movie doesn't get to me, that's what Mike & the bots are for. But what was was the deal with that movie? It just seems like an overlong (the movie didn't even need a short!) promo for something.

I'm getting my Poopy-Suit ready as we speak. I wonder if the set will include a theatrical trailer for STARFIGHTERS? That would be interesting to see...

SUPER-SWEET-AWESOME-COOL!!!!!!!!!! This news certainly brightened my day! What a great lineup - THE STARFIGHTERS is one of my favorite episodes; awful movie.. but VERY funny riffing. CLONUS is one of my favorite SciFi Era episodes too. The surprise on this set was SECRET AGENT SUPER DRAGON, one of the few titles on my Likelihood For Rhino Release List that I couldn't find much information on. And the extras list sounds great... nice to see more Jack Perkins segments and it's awesome they got Robert Fiveson and the star of REBEL SET to do interviews for the set (hopefully they'll mention MST3k this time). The cover will most very likely suck though.

But this has no bearing on First Spaceship on Venus, right? Nope, Crown doesn't own First Spaceship On Venus. Wade Williams has the rights to the US version, while the German version is out on DVD from another company.
