I JUST GOT IT!!! YAY!! Which epsiode shall I see? Sounds like a good question for Miss Chloe. I've heard she's good with dilemmas like that. I've asked for it for my birthday. The question is whether or not Mrs. sampo wants to encourage my habit. I'll let you know in 3 weeks.

Come on Mrs. sampo, he's a good guy. Buy sampo the 5th box set and you will be rewarded with laughter all the day long.
Well, I did my part. Hope it helps. 3 weeks, man I gotta wait till late May for my B-Day, I'll be 43, 44? 40 something-or-other (The mind is the first thing to go)

Thanks MJ.
I let her read your post. She rolled her eyes and said, "you'll just have to see."
Dang it! Those mysterious women.
Seriously, 40-something? I'm consistently amazed at the age range of people on this board. From Chemical who is 12 to phantom who is over 700. Why don't people have this amount of generation-defying casual conversation face to face?

Yeah, the Merlin picture is definitely dark, but that's OK, since the whole movie is dark anyways. And my Time Chasers picture is slightly dark.

This entire set seems to have dark transfers, but I think that's what they're supposed to look like.

I noticed that the movie was listed as a B/W movie rather than in color on the DVD but I didn't notice the wrong episode number. That would explain why that is incorrect. Now that you mention it, Starring: Maximilian Schell, Hans Caninenberg, Dunja Movar, Karl Michael Vogler Show #1009 / B&Won the back of the boxset, all that info is wrong

Holy crap, Rhino must really be stopped!
How many inaccuracies does this make now?
I know they've done stuff like have Mike's mug on the box of some Joel episode-or was it the other way around?
Maybe someone who knows can start a thread of Rhino errors, just for fun...

Maybe someone who knows can start a thread of Rhino errors, just for fun... You may need an entire board for all the Rhino errors. I hope they don't read this. I'm still glad they are releasing MST3K dvds.

But is yours so dark to the point where you cant see the theater seats in the beginning credits of Merlin? I have the VHS version, and I cant see the seats easily. I don't have the DVD yet, but I watched my tape and I can clearly see the seats and M&TB. So if Rhino's got it so dark you can't see them during the credits, well not only does that suck but I guess I'll hold onto my tapes. Sheesh, do I have a love/hate relationship with Rhino. So what about the rest of you, is the (Merlin) DVD so dark you can't see the seats?#nosmileys

So what about the rest of you, is the (Merlin) DVD so dark you can't see the seats? I am using PowerDVD on my laptop and yes it IS dark. The only way I can see the seats or M&TB is if I turn the brightness and the contrast all the way up.

It makes Gary's Last of the Wild Horses DVD look like the brightest thing you can ever see. Holy Crap then that's bad (sorry Gary, no offense) But I hate it when I can't see the guys, part of the fun is watching to see their movements and sight gags (if any) or when a character looks of screen and they try to see what the persons looking at. That kills me. Well, I guess I'll stop whining about having to wait for it and just be patient.

This isn't about the Volume 5 box set, but about who makes it. Rhino. Right now, Rhino is incorrectly advertising at the bottom of the page under "WE RECOMMEND"... MST3K Collection Vol. 5 $19.95 - DVD www.rhino.com/store/topgenre_video.lassoDon't get your hopes up, though. Once inside, the set actually goes for $59.95 By jove, Rhino, you've done it again!

Man....that SUCKS. f***** YOU RHINO f***** YOU!!!! Slightly overreacting, don't you think? Since the only thing we've seen of the episodes are cable broadcasts and VHS tapes of them, we don't know how dark the episode was "really" supposed to look. The DVDs in this set are a bit dark, to be sure, but it may very well have been intentional rather than a transfer fault by Rhino. Besides, you can always change your TV settings if you'd like to exaggerate the brightness to the point of a washed out broadcast. Yes, Rhino makes numerous packaging errors, but considering they're our official outlet for MST3K home video, I wouldn't recommend putting down their efforts (plus the people who do the packaging probably have little to do with anything else..ditto with the website price error). The only mistake they've made that I've truly had a major problem with was the stinger being absent from the Atomic Brain, and as Satellite News explained, that may very well have been a mistake by BBI.

I still think it could have been intentional.
