This forum has been kind of dull lately, I'm going to try and pep it up a bit. Here's the first poll, of who, for what ever reason, is your favorite reviewer.
Forrest, he nailed my favorite episode Colossus, unexplainable charm, natured and relaxing feel to it... on the mst3kreview and continuously writes reviews i agree with. There's always a comparing of don's and Forrest's reviews as they're usually paired together and Don i would say is the poorest reviewer. Ator is a close 2nd reviewer, haven't read the others.

YOu know I just watched Colossus last night and am meaning to re-review it.
Yes, it has that charm to it still, and it is still relaxing but hilarious.
I love it when Colossus says: THEN WHAT HAPPENED!?
I thank you for your vote, but I am not happy with my earlier reviews. They're not very good. I like my season 10 and 9 reviews best so far.

Great, as if my self confidence isn't a wreak already. Gak!
Well, I don't want to vote but I will defend Don. He's one of the finest writers among us all. If your grading solely on who you agree with, well I think that's kind of bush league. We'll never see eye to eye on everything. How does the reviewer express his opinions, his skill with sentence structure... not that he has to be a great author but what I mean is, how does he incorporate a sense of humor and the spirit of off klter fun? Those are the qualities I'm impressed with and Don's got all of those in bunches.
Personally, I know this sounds like a cop out, but I'm happy with all the MST reviewers. They are fierce individualists who express themselves clearly and with intellegence. Plus they are having a good time celebrating a great show. I applaud them all.

PS: I reviwed Hamlet based on the riffing.
Thank you. BTW, MJ I read your review of Hamlet and agreed with just about every word (a rareity). The quality of the riffs simply aren't that good, and the riffs count is low as it is.
Too much generalization on the 'schoolboy quips', as well the quality of riffs far outweigh the quantity, imagine this movie being done Season 2 for example, now that would be boredom. I've read Shakespeare when i was younger so i have a love for it that many others find it all dull and i think the movie could only have survived through the latter seasons because a lot of earlier episodes rode more on the goofiness of the movie itself, when the riffing was really adept later on could these "dull" (as many here put it) movies be tried.
Don's reviews may have great structure, but it's about the episode and not about grammar and i've countless times scoffed at his reviews, quite the opposite of Forrest's in the very same pages.

Okay, I get it now. You're a mark for Shakespeare and you'll undeniably love this terrible episode until the end just for that warm fuzzy feeling.

It's not generalization. I watched Hamlet so much that I actually counted the riffs per minute, weighed each and every joke. I thought it through and I'm insulted that you would tag me as a "generalist". You just don't like what I said, and that's fine, you have the right to like what you like - Also with Don, if you read my entire statement, It goes beyond grammar. Just because you don't agree with an opinion doesn't mean that opinion holds no value. Scoffing at his reviews is childish. I might not always agree with Don, but I respect him and enjoy reading his views.
A well rounded person doesn't insulate himself behind walls he built. But explores and gives value to the spectrum of ideas that surround him.

For me it doesn't provide enough big laughs. If they are writing on avg 600 jokes an episode and I only get 6 or 7 laughs out of it. That's not a successful ratio and it's going to earn a D grade from me.
But if someone loves Hammy and offers to explain why, I'm not going to just "scoff" at them. Mr. Atari likes Hamlet and we've had a few debates on it. We don't see eye to eye on it but speaking for myself. I respect his views and give credence to them because Mr. A is a very intellegent, thoughtful person. The value of Mr. A's review isn't only in whether I agree or not. Does his argument have merit and does it deserve thoughtful consideration? Yes and yes.
And thanks Dr. F - I'll be around, even if I have to go and take a breather every once in a while.
