People might ask, "MJ, why do you like crap like Resident Evil" - and it's very easy - while I don't like zombie movies and don't play video games and could care less if it true to the source material...
Milla Jovovich gets to kick some ass. And looks cool doing it.
I love movies that feature cool, tough gals who dish it out as well as they take it. Underworld, Tomb Raider... I love 'em and I love Kate and Angelina in them.
They are totally awesome dude.
So here's your chance to celebrate butt kicking gals of the cinema (Sorry, these are movies only - I left TV gals for another geek to post)

Captain Katherine Janeway, USS Voyager.
But as far as ACTUALLY kicking ass goes, I'd have to say Uma in Kill Bill. Gotta love that Crazy 88/Gogo fight scene. One of the best fight scenes I've ever seen.

Automatically I would say Miranda Otto from "The Two Towers" and "Return of the King", but from the list you give I have to vote the X-Women.

I just watched both Resident Evil's back to back - loads of brainless fun. The second has more Milla butt kicking action, but the first is actually the better directed film. I know that sounds strange but Anderson's work felt like it had some intelligent thought put behind the framing and camera angles - the second was more, BANG, BANG, quick edits, I don't have a clue what I'm doing but lets cover that up with some explosions. - Paul Anderson is to Alexander Witt, what William Castle is to Rick Sloane

I went with other. Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Supercop) is my pick. She is bad-ass

I had to go with Uma Thurman as The Bride in the Kill Bill films. She kicked some serious ass in those films. I didn't think she was going to be able to pull it off when I first heard about it, but she proved me wrong. BIG time. I do want to mention that I really wanted to vote for Kate Beckinsale, but that would have mostly been based on looks. I think Kate is one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. And that accent makes it all even better.

I must agree about Miss Beckinsale. That accent just puts her over the top.

I've always enjoyed Anderson's direction style. How people can compare him to Uwe Boll, I'll never know. Anderson actually puts effort into his films and it shows. It his writting that falls flat. But while I agree that the original is by far the better directed film (Witt's Michael Bay camera shaking made me sick to my stomach), I find the sequel to be more entertaining. It's more over-the-top and absurd, and therefor more of a idiotic good time.

All great replies - It's fun when it's fun.
Yeah Uma's fight scenes where amazing - the Crazy 88's/Gogo battle was a hellaciously cool fight scene.
And Kate, everything said, I echo - I liked Underworld as a film and she made the movie for me - she even fought sexy - I loved that final leap and stroke of the sword. Moves like Fred Astaire as a bad ass.

I liked his first Highlander flick but that was about it.
