I just found out on the RiffTrax forum, that this is the last time we will see all 3 together for a while. Looks like they recorded DareDevil, Battlefield Earth and ST 6 when they were together for the RiffTrax Live.
I don't know if this means they will be bringing out more Mike solo projects or what?
But we do know that "it will be a while" before the trio are back again.

STAR TREK VI?!?!?!?! Blasphamy!!!!Especially when they haven't done Star Trek Nemesis, yet. I don't think it's blasphemy. While rifftrax primarily uses bad movies, I don't think it's considered a requirement for the movie to be bad this time around. I mean, they did LotR, which I think is a fantastic movie and most admit is better than your normal Hollywood film fest. I'll be happy whenever they do a Star Trek movie. It gives me an excuse to buy it.

That is the last of what was pre-recorded so to speak, the Pre-Rifftrax Live! Recordathon. After next week? Who knows.

Rats, I was hoping for a ton more of the three amigos commentaries; not that I've heard either of the other two they've done yet, but Mike + Kevin was much better than Mike alone.
And I hate to disagree about ST:6, but am I really the only one who thought it was easily the poorest of the Star Trek movies? I give you that all Star Trek movies/episodes are preachy and work too hard to draw parallels to our times, but come on, that was the worst ever - the ruskies and the americans finally coming to terms at the end of the cold war, even while some of the individual bad guys are secretly plotting against their lifelong foes, who they'll never see as anything but enemies? It wasn't just that either - the political parts were really boring. And the whole alien jail thing I thought was quite cheesy for a franchise like Star Trek. That's not to take anything away from our very own Kim Catrall, it's just one man's opinion. And I haven't watched it in like 15 years, so maybe I just need to see it again.
Well anyway, since I've always secretly mocked the undiscovered country, I'm greatly looking forward to checking this rifftrax out! /evilgrin

Well, you're probably not alone. As far as preachiness goes, however, I think that Star Trek IV was much, much worse. Star Trek VI wasn't really prompting a message other than "peace and friendliness is good". I didn't see the plot as speaking to the end of the cold war so much as I saw the movie as being inspired by it. Star Trek IV, on the other hand, was very much a political message about protecting marine life, etc.

STAR TREK VI?!?!?!?! Blasphamy!!!!Especially when they haven't done Star Trek Nemesis, yet. I have to agree. Personally i like all the first 6 Star Trek movies. I didnt mind them doing STV because there was alot to make fun of. But this one was very good and i dont see why they should do this one when you haveNemesis or insurrection. Plus everytime they do a good movie. Im usually not that excited to see it. Its kinda like why do Batman Begins which was a good movie. When you have Batman and Robin around the croner. Which one would be better, funnier and less likely make me say to the screen. "Hey you idoits this was good and i dont care if Bale is wareing a silly costume."

I was certainly more excited when they released Battlefield Earth and Troll 2. But, I just watched ST 6 for the first time today (on its own; no riffing). And other then being a little slow, it wasn't too bad. Not allot of action, but then again, Star Trek isn't always know for its action. I'm curious to see where they go with this one.

I can't wait for this. I lived with this movie most of the year of '91. My office was on the same stage as the "Klingon Courtroom", and I walked the sets, and watched them film everyday. As the shoot went on, my work (set construction cost accounting) got less and less, and I got to spend more time watching them film. Let me tell you, if you've never been on a movie set, it can be pretty boring. A lot of waiting around. So I got to meet all the heroes of my youth, and get paid too. On top of that, it was the year of the 25th Anniversary, so there was A LOT of Star Trek fever.
So, personally speaking, this is gonna be fun!

At last, enough "SPOooockk!" quotes to satisfy even me! YES! It's not quite Trace's "Spooock!" but it still sounds glorious. I seriously am going to have to get this, no question about it.
