When it comes to Christmas music, I'm a big Grinch. If I never hear "Jingle Bell Rock" or "Winter Wonderland" again, it'll be too soon. But this gets me in the Christmas spirit. I can't get enough of this song or the video (especially the end). What are your favorite Christmas songs? The more obscure the better.

There's A New Kid In Town by Keith Whitley (NOT the version with Alan Jackson.) A Christmas Letter by Keith Whitley I mentioned in the premature death thread about sometimes hearing Keith's songs and shedding tears. These two songs have done it to me more than most. If you want to hear them, I posted them for download since both songs are long out of print. I urge you to download them if you're a fan of Christmas songs, or if you're looking to listen to some songs you haven't heard before. www.mediafire.com/?3xmxp2xxjxxMatt

I'm a huge sucker for Christmas music. Always have been. Always will be. However, I truly despise the unbearably treacly "Christmas Shoes" song. *shudders*I'll have to check that one out... Anything by TransSiberian Orchestra. Ditto. Especially their "Christmas Canon". "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" -sung by the Muppets..you cannot help from smiling hearing it. I love the version by The Ray Conniff Singers. Some of my (many) Christmas favorites: - "Someday at Christmas" by Stevie Wonder
- "Happy Christmas (War is Over)" by John Lennon
- "My Grown Up Christmas List" by Amy Grant/Kelly Clarkson
- "When My Heart Finds Christmas" by Harry Connick, Jr.
- "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?" by Harry Connick, Jr.
- "Christmas is..." by Percy Faith
- "Where Are You Christmas?" by Faith Hill
- "Believe" by Josh Groban
- "Christmas Stays the Same" by Linda Eder
- "Twinkle Twinkle Little Me" by Diana Ross & the Supremes
- "Last Christmas" by Wham!
- "Wonderful Christmas Time" by Paul McCartney & Wings
- "Feliz Navidad" by Jose Feliciano/Celine Dion
- "It's a Marshmallow World" by Darlene Love
- "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" by Darlene Love/U2/Cher
- "Celebrate Me Home" by Kenny Loggins
- "Give Love on Christmas Day" by The Jackson 5
- "Step Into Christmas" by Elton John
- "Santa on the Rooftop" by Trisha Yearwood
- "Merry Christmas Everyone" by Shakin' Stevens
- "December Will Be Magic Again" by Kate Bush
- "Don't Save it All for Christmas Day" by Avalon
- "Santa Claus is Back in Town" by Elvis Presley/Johnny Lang
- "Santa Clause is Coming to Town" by Bruce Springsteen
- "What Christmas Means to Me" by Stevie Wonder
- "Christmas Eve" by Celine Dion
- And, of course, classics like "White Christmas", "I'll Be Home for Christmas", "The Christmas Song", etc.
ETA: ...I urge you to download them if you're a fan of Christmas songs, or if you're looking to listen to some songs you haven't heard before. www.mediafire.com/?3xmxp2xxjxxI'll check those out too. Thanks for the link!

If you can find a copy of Jackie Gleason's Merry Christmas, check it out. Beautiful easy listening Christmas.
A Christmas Gift To You From Phil Spector is a lot of fun.
Ella Fitzgerald Wishes You A Swingin' Christmas is pretty hot.
For those of you who are classically bent (and you know who you are), there's Saint-Saens' Weihachtsoratorium. (Christmas Oratorio.)
And for purity of voice, Doris Day's Christmas Album can't be beat.
Dave Brubeck did a solo Christmas album that's really nice.
Chet Baker also did a Christmas album. I have it (just got it last week) and haven't had time to listen to it yet.

I don't listen to Weird Al much anymore, but the only Christmas song that's ever needed any more is his "Christmas at Ground Zero."

Anything by TransSiberian Orchestra. Agreed, agreed! I'm going to see them January 3rd. There's not much Christmas music I'm big on though.

Must go with John Lennon's Happy Xmas (war is over), If only this war ended then the song will make more sense!

Got to go with the classics: I Wish it Could Be Christmas Every Day by Roy Wood and Wizard Merry Xmas Everybody by Slade and anything off of the mini-album "Christmas" by Low, but especially Just Like Christmas: uk.youtube.com/watch?v=A-rvWoVX3t0(not the actual video just a fan thing and shamefully it doesn't feature the whole song, but you get the idea!) I fact here's a vid with the full song (not as good as the one above though image wise): uk.youtube.com/watch?v=nAj16CEXOjI

I'm shocked nobody's mentioned Patrick Swayze Christmas yet. And you all call yourselves MST fans.

Well, I replaced my "Welcome to Deep 13!" message at my desk (that's been up all year) to "Let's have a Patrick Swayze Christmas!", and my roommate thought I was being anti-Christmas. I had to play the song for her so she would stop looking at me weirdly, after which she continued to look at me weirdly. Can't win them all, I guess. However, I truly despise the unbearably treacly "Christmas Shoes" song. *shudders*I absolutely agree with you. That song is so sappy it annoys me to no end. My friends always get all weepy, and I always end up yelling at the radio before rapidly changing stations. "Happy Christmas" by John Lennon and Yoko Ono and "Do They Know It's Christmas" by Band Aid bug me a little too, I guess. That aside, I heart Christmas music. Yes, I said heart. Here's my current iPod Christmas playlist. - Greatest Time of Year - Aly & AJ
- Grown-Up Christmas List - Amy Grant
- Sing Noel with African Noel - My church choir (every year they do a Christmas program, and they used to sell CDs)
- A Celtic Christmas - Church choir again
- End of the Beginning - Yet another church choir song (Even as a mp3, hearing the music pastor belt this song out of the park still gives me chills.)
- Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree - Brenda Lee (loved this song in Home Alone)
- Jingle Bell Rock - Burl Ives
- Carol of the Bells - The Calling (so beautifully done!)
- When My Heart Finds Christmas - Harry Connick, Jr.
- Santa Baby - Madonna
- Deck the Halls - Mannheim Steamroller (Mannheim Steamroller makes me happy)
- Jingle Bell Rock - The Muppets
- Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer - Patsy & Elmo
- Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24 - Trans-Siberian Orchestra (rocks hardcore!)
- Wizards in Winter - TSO
Other favorites: - It Must Have Been Ol' Santa Claus - Harry Connick, Jr.
- Blue Christmas - Elvis Presley
- Holly Jolly Christmas - Burl Ives
- Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth - Bing Crosby & David Bowie
- Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town - Bruce Springsteen
- Wonderful Christmastime - Paul McCartney
- Stille Nacht - ever since I learned German Weihnachtslieder in high school, I've loved singing Silent Night in German - if I could only remember the third verse!
- Last Christmas - Wham

I should have mentioned Nat King Cole's Christmas songs as well. That guy had an amazing voice.
