Oh , and I hate to sound too pragmatic here . . . But the re-embracing of "riffing" by so many former Brains , while certainly coming out of a "time-enriched perspective" , also must include a touch of "okay , my writing career got me loads of respect , but I need to live too" I do not for a second suggest it as an over-riding motivation , but it factors in along with their realizing how their best work "set the world afire" , what other endeavors didn't pan out lastingly , & how enough time has shown them what they miss most. They are all around the same age afterall. There'a a sudden deluge of "riff-based" projects for many intertwined reasons ! I was actually thinking about a related question earlier this evening - if I somehow had the chance to meet Joel, would I congratulate him on his new endeavor, or would I tell him I'm sorry he's typecast himself into this role? Of course it's great from the consumer side, and it will likely do well for him, but I just wonder whether he is completely happy about it or if he'd rather do other stuff. It's really something everyone in "the consumer arts" faces : Jagger goes solo ! ( oops ,back to The Stones ) Jerry Van Dykes One-Man Show !! ( wonder if there's a Coach reunion coming ? ) Mike Nelson writes several wonderful books & essays ( uh , better get w/ the riffs ) But I truly believe it's all that plus the perspective that time brings. Tis' both commerce and craft ! Maybe a touch a heavy-heart at first , but in Joel's case , it doesn't sound like he's putting the jumpsuit back on completely. They're all finding ways to "do new twists" !

Wow. This is great. Words fail.
Thanks so much to RAD for posting this. You're now officially my favorite board-member-married-to-a-cast-member EVER!!

Let's go easy on Mr. Mallon. He has generously looked the other way while his show's fanbase pirated his product. He continues to release (usually) pristine versions of our favorite show on DVD. He worked hard to get the show on the air and keep it on the air. By all accounts, his relationships didn't end well with the other Brains. But none of us (except maybe RAD) have heard the whole story on that. And since when has a producer ever gotten along with the talent? His contribution to the 2007 MST renaissance seems less impressive than the others', but we really haven't seen it yet. Plus, he's reopening the merchandise store. And I've never met the guy. He might be good at ping-pong. Have to agree here. No matter the issues between him and the rest (and I don't like what I've heard don't get me wrong) he still gives us fans what we want so I'm willing to give him a break. And while the animated thing doesn't sound particularly amazing the idea of a proper official site run by BBI with content fromthe show and an online store is pretty exciting to me. Hopefully it's good.

I am so bloody happy! Trace! Frank! Joel!
So what does Cinematic Titanic really mean? I mean what's the name supposed to mean? Does it represent the type of movies they'll be riffing? Like big-time stuff that's just hopelessly sinking? Or is it more-or-less nonsense like the name Mystery Science Theater 3000?
How do we abbreviate it? CinTit? CinTite? CT doesn't seem iconic enough . . .

Wow this is awesome news. But at the same time I feel sorry that they are divided into separate camps. It's too bad they all couldn't do something together like this. They could have joined powers like The Superfriends cartoon. I've been disappointed that there's no word if Film Crew is continuing after the two year delay and Riff Trax is almost exclusively doing new movies. So Im grateful to Joel for doing MST style movies with his project (at least that's what it sounds like).

I like CinTite myself.
I hope they don't do big-time movies. We have RiffTrax for that. I hope they dig up all the weirdness they can.
I want Killdozer!

I was thinking the scaffold-o-rama seemed like a weird idea, but then I realized that, in the logo, there are five people in the silhouette. Can you imagine five people riffing at once? Or maybe they'll be coming and going and moving around on the scaffolds. Now that'd be distracting.

When I first read this, I was overjoyed.
Then I read that they were going to be released through the internet and as burnable DVDs.
Then I became unbearably depressed.

Wow, i couldnt believe this when i heard it. Joel is back!!! I love rifftrax, but will be great to hear the original gang back together. I prefer riffing on older movies, so this will be great.
