What I may do for this first release is download AND order a DVD. I can be the guinea pig and report back my findings, I guess. Normally I would balk at paying for the same thing twice, but I just need to see it for myself. I wouldn't. It says right in the FAQ for DVD Wagon (the site that sells the physical DVDS) that they are DVD-R. I believe you. I am wondering if there will be any difference in quality in spite of that fact. I am so sick-in-the head over this project that I plan to be just that anal retentive. Remember the MST segment where Mike was messing around with his music set-up, talking about finding the sweet spot between the speakers, etc. Yeah, I'm that mental about CT.

With a turn around time of about a week and no DVD production studio mentioned prior to the release of even the movie title, I am surprised that no one else figured out that the DVD would be a copy.
But I'm ok with that. I'm sure that the CT team wouldn't pick a company that will burn the fans, just the DVDs {I'm sorry for that one but I couldn't resist}.

I'm not totally clear on if EZtakes/DVDWagon/PicPal are actually encoding the films themselves or just making real DVD's available for download, their info page isn't totally clear on that. However since they say that they add a "Don't Pirate This" clip and each DVD is tagged so that they can trace pirated copies back to the purchaser I guess they have to at least do some tweaking to it.

*Looks at CT website, looks at calendar, taps fingers impatiently*
My goal is to be the first to order the DVD. I may miss some sleep, but it will be worth it.

It's been delayed slightly, you can unclench.

You have dial-up don't you? I can't imagine it working that well unless you can let it download continuously for a day or more (I've done that in the past). Yep. It was as high as 5kbps at one point, but the computer has been moved farther from the phone jack, so the rate got slower. I've tried the all-night thing before. Unfortunately, if I don't do anything on the internet for two hours, even as little as clicking some random link, the connection will end. Irrigardless of what my connection settings actually are. Is there anyway to load an automatically refreshing page (like some email accounts) to fool the connection? Otherwise, do you have access to a laptop you could take to a wi-fi access point or something? Aside from that the resumable download somebody mentioned is about the only thing I can think of, if you *really* want to download it. I assume it would involve multiple days of downloading a bit at a time, which may or may not be worth it.

Is there anyway to load an automatically refreshing page (like some email accounts) to fool the connection? Nope, and it doesn't count that as a legitimate click. No, Skippy is grounded from the net forever (and if that thing gets online again our service provider will yank our connection perminantly). Think of Timmy in laptop form, and that's about what we have (even the right color!).

I shouldn't have any problem with this. I'm glad it's gonna be a download. Quicker for me at any rate. I'll fire it up tonight.

I think the prospect of no DVD release is going to cut down my buying of CT material. I want a DVD, something that's mine and I can play in any player. It's a bitch to make a copy and direct to DVD is much simpler.

I honestly hope they end up having problems with this releasing system. I want an "official" release like The Film Crew releases and I'm afraid that this movie looks like a typical offering from EZtakes. Grade Z shlock that I really have no desire to see straight or riffed. If only the first release had been something a little more comforting. We'll see I guess.

And they have DVD case jackets that you can print...if CT makes one available, which I think they will.

It's a bitch to make a copy and direct to DVD is much simpler. That is exactly what EZTakes does. DVDs you can download and burn yourself and play it wherever your heart desires. You can also pay a little more and they do the burning and you don't have to download it. This is the easiest and most cost effective way for Joel to do this. They don't have to have an inventory or deal with the manufacturing and what not.
