Ok, so I think every single posting soul on here is more than excited with the prospect of Cinematic Titanic.
No one could be accused of being against the concept, or particularly hating on latter-day MST3K.
So anyone who's going to post in this thread is going to be making suggestions to improve the CineTit* experience for one and all.
Some of my own suggestions: -) EZTakes / DVD Wagon needs a better shopping cart. One HUGE improvement there would be Paypal -- there's nothing that speeds up the checkout process better.
-) CineTit* needs to release a VOD short. This may be in the works already as Joel has suggested. It needs to cost less than a regular release. It need not, in my opinion, be as cheap as Rifftrax's "Visit to Santa," because of production costs with the visual elements and, such as, the Iraq, and things of that nature.
-) CineTit* needs to have some form of feedback. I assume they're working on that, and they have their spies in the two prominent MST3K-related forums, but something official would also be nice.
And with that, I turn it over to the rest of you! Keep in mind that I'm offering improvements, not just direct criticism here, so be prepared to do the same.
Get Poopie!
*CineTit is the latest abbreviation sweeping the nation. Catch CineTit fever!

Well,
After a flurry of "CineTit" & "CT3K" n' all , it seemed 95% of us settled on CT. Goes along nicely w/ "MST" & "TFC" and "Rifftra<. . . well, it seems to be the accepted.
I agree w/ Paypal. I went back a little later last night to see if I could find a test-case. Meaning = In the half hour between Joel's announcement & midnight , I had gotten my EZTakes download manager all set. ( that looks pretty cool ) But when I chose a DvD , I was greeted w/ the pay info window . . . my name & address all scrolled in , but card info was barren and waiting on re-entry , so PayPal ?... sure ?
Didn't really follow the item about > "the visual elements and, such as, the Iraq, and things of that nature"
Lucy ?! , do some s'plainin' !

Another suggestion for their marketing strategy. They posolutely need to get a presence on YouTube. Right now a search for "Cinematic Titanic" yields a bootleg of the trailer (which includes some very spammy looking link at the end of the description), 45 deeply wrong results creatively tagged by their uploader, and one preview of some work one of the the Titans did between mst3k and CT, from the same source as the wrong results.
I know they don't have much video to share right now, but even if they just uploaded an official version of the trailer, and a few shorts exploring Joel's laundry room, at least it would actually be CT content when you search for it.

I agree with Paypal.
And CinTi is the best shorthand name. CT makes me think of the medical procedure.

A better distribution system would be good. EZTakes is surprised that exclusive original content sells better than easy to find PD movies? Is it that hard to have DVDs already burned? And the dowloading part be implemented prior to the movie going on sale is also important.
CT email system. I didn't get my first email beyond the automatic confirmation until this moring and I've been a member since early December. Way to keep your fan base informed, CT guys. It should become a part of the CT feedback system, perhaps even a CT Information Club...
And I like CT over CineTit because it's a CT world.

And the dowloading part be implemented prior to the movie going on sale is also important. It sounds like EZT started taking orders almost as soon as they had a master disc in their hands (near midnight on a Friday is an odd time to start taking orders). Though I don't think more lead time would have done them much good, since they're business model is burn to order so they can include a little 'this disc was made for so-and-so' bumper instead of burdening us with the DRM that other delivery systems use. Of course, not having the download rights is the biggest problem - since it probably increases demand for the DVDs by 10 to 20%.

I thought the EZTakes wagon was pretty easy, but I agree PayPal would probably bring in a lot more people. On the short, that sounds like a good idea. I wouldn't put it as a VOD, I'd post them on YouTube and try to get featured, but I think word of mouth might spread anyway. Offer the shorts as the preview, then advertise the main features for sale. If they used Rick Prelinger all the shorts would be free. I don't know about the production costs of it all, but if they snuck one short with one feature each month, do writer/filming at the same time, will it be that much more? Probably. ;D On the feedback, they're definately working on that. I noticed with Joel's latest blog it says "comments are not allowed for this blog." I'm guessing it's as easy as the click of a few buttons, so I wouldn't worry about that. BTW, just call it CT. Please. CineTit sounds like another nickname for Sinemax.

Didn't really follow the item about > "the visual elements and, such as, the Iraq, and things of that nature" I believe that is referencing the dumb Miss Teen USA thing with how kids should have Maps iand Balls in The Iraq, etc.

I guarantee if someone enjoys the short they will be hungry for more and way more willing to spend their money on the full product than buying it sight unseen. It would be a terrific way to capture non-MSTies.

I must have "other" things making my brains tingle lately ( and my skull ooze also !).
