I have to say I wouldn't care much for the inclusion of more explicit sex jokes or raunchy humor...mostly just because that stuff is rarely ever funny. However, I can't really see Joel, Trace, or Mary being up for many of those kind of jokes anyhow. Maybe Josh but even then I don't know. But I just don't think that will be much of an issue. MST3K was a lot 'friendlier/sillier' back in the Joel days anyhow and, just judging by the way he writes for the website, I doubt that's changed. Also I imagine many of these people have kids now...which also tends to reduce the willingness to go for the risky material. So no worries IMO. That said, they probably will refrain from cutting scenes out of movies unless they absolutely have to. I seriously doubt any films with nudity, sex, or excessive gore will make the cut to begin with though. Nicely said, strangefate. RAD

You know, for as much as I admire MST3K for its subtlety when it came to more "adult" references when it was on basic cable, I was wondering just when the show turned all its fans into a bunch of prissies. Yes, we're adults and smart enough to grasp the innuendo, but CT and Rifftrax aren't the church sanctuary, either. And you don't have to be able to share everything you watch with your kids.
That said, I'd doubt there will be much of that kind of thing (either in movie choice or riffing references). Neither group has ever relied on that kind of humor. But in no way should it be off-limits, and I support any experimentation in that direction. My ears and sensibilities can take it.

I don't care about raunchy, stactalogical, etc. humor, as long as they don't become Larry, The Cable Guy or Pauly Shore. Since they detest people like that, I'm pretty sure they won't. Plus they've always seemed more family friendly as mentioned. They've always stuck in some more blue riffs, and with no worry of network censors I'm sure it'll be cranked up a bit. As far as the movies, a lot of the ones with so much blood and sex are usually some of the worst, which usually makes them less easy to riff. So I'm guessing most of those will be avoided if only for that purpose.

You guys know what got me thinking this , right ? It's not like I was rubbin' my hands together goin' " gimme' some %@*! Boobies !" . . oBoy !
That dish full of brains from the trailer ! Plus , knowing what edges were being pushed in the early 70's . . the whole look of The Oozing Brain Skull there.
I hope they're just as folksy-gentle as ever , with room for . . . .say , 23% more edge.

Wonderful ! He shoots me a raspberry & wanders happily off , leaving more then a bit bugged.
I tell ya' , when I don't get somebody's post I either move on , or leave a post seeking clarification in a constructive way. But I've yet to get the point of the few members who do this kind of thing. Take the time to respond with merely a "what ?!". I just read it as an insulting little " you blabbering fool ! , you make no sense ! I denounce you !!" But then I obviously had a button installed in my formative years that makes me feel smacked-down after a dismissive little shot like that.

I agree with you there. And I have no doubt we won't see that kind of degeneration with this outfit. They have too much dignity. I hope they're just as folksy-gentle as ever , with room for . . . .say , 23% more edge. While I find it hard to quantify what 23 percent more edge would deliver, I also agree here. I like the aw-shucks worldview the Brains have mostly adopted over the years, but there's also an annoying movement out there to sanitize everything to the point that it can't possibly offend anyone. I'm not looking for releases with full-frontal nudity or over-the-top violence and gore, either, but I don't think they need to stick to a type of humor that's perfect for Nickelodeon, either. Let them riff how the want to riff. These guys rarely push the envelope in that direction, and after nearly 20 years, I don't think it would hurt them any to be bold.

Ah , I have now puzzled 2 of ya' w/ this 23% !I thought the way I phrased it showed I was grasping for a rough number , a general idea that a little more is acceptable. Some a' you'se guys are such literal , hard-number math-heads ! Me ? . . . a little more abstract. ( did'ja notice ? )

Ya' know what . rep-sam ? This button-bit we're doin' got me thinkin' , That's a "call-back" MsT reference we could actually see them do ! We've already seen that thet're interacting w/ the movie . . . Frank is called Frank here in CT-World . . . . Imagine a scene where , I dunno' , an alarm is going off , they show the console w/ blinking lights . . . . Frank gets up saying " jeez, that's annoying ! . . where's the off-switch ?!" and Trace , above him , says "Push the button, Frank" aahh , well I can dream !
