Wasp Woman Best one yet. The movie was watchable for a change and the riffing was superb. I remember watching this one on the late Saturday night Monster TV show and really getting a crush on Barboura Morris (the secretary) Ah, pre-pubescent puppy love! I'd forgot about that. Nice to remember. Thanks. I was hoping for some sort of "Giant Leeches" riff when De Sova showed up as the night watchman, but maybe the Titans have an unspoken rule about riffs that refer back to the MST3K days. I really wanted to hear something like "Liz, baby, is that you with my groceries?" I would have rolled with laughter with that one. Every one of the Titan's releases seem to be building on the last one. I like the host segments although I can't say I cared much for the Buddy Rich sketch. I like my Riffs full of innuendo but I do not like out front profanity. I understand it was the set up for the sketch...oh just forget it. Looking forward to the next one.

The Wasp Woman.
I have to make one comment on the movie: I can understand the "science" of how she turns into a "wasp" but I don't really know about the vampire/werewolf plot points with the blood sucking and her ability to return to normal with no memory of being a wasp. Ah well, it's Corman and he probably more time shooting the movie then the writer spent on the script.
As for the Cinematic Titanic version of The Wasp Woman, it's brilliant! Genius! Funny! Also it's short, very short. It could have used two more skits to pad out the length a bit. But it's funny, very funny.
Did I mention it's funny?
Best riff {so much so, I had to repeat it on my first viewing} is from Mary Jo: "He calls it Dr. Cyclops?"
I also enjoyed: Josh's comment on how Frank's first bit skit was really accepted by the masses. Trace's montage speech. Songs and commercials by Joel: "I'm bringing home a baby bumble bee" Joel's drug humor/animal testing lab jokes. And all the riffs about the Hugh Beaumontesque guy with the bow tie.

I liked it a lot, but I'll be honest - I liked Doomsday Machine better. I'm not sure I can really say why. It may be that this one seemed like it had less variety of jokes. It seemed like they just piled on the drug jokes and tried a bit too hard for sex jokes. The movie was the best one yet, which helped a lot. For some reason, I never had a problem watching Doomsday Machine even though nearly everyone hates it for being so draggy. In that respect, the movie was the one thing that set this one over the last one. Otherwise, I liked the Doomsday riffing better. I enjoyed this one and felt it was worth it, I was just a bit surprised that it wasn't my absolute favorite after hearing so many other people say it's the best.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. I think each one is getting better at not sounding so "rehearsed and read from a script". That ruins it for me when it sounds too staged, I like the casual interaction much better. It's just one of those things that sometimes hits and sometimes misses. Still, I think there are more and more of the spontaneous-sounding riffs with each release, so I'm encouraged. I followed this up with The Leech Woman, made a great double-feature!

Watched Woman for the first time last night, and I thought it was fantastic. For me, the Titans have had a squeaky clean image for so long that it was a breath of fresh air when they actually got naughty in this one. Not saying I want them to go fully blue all the time (though that would be hilarious for an episode), but I thought the jokes were great. I dunno, hearing Trace saying sh*t just makes me giddy is all. ;D
The skits, like always, aren't anything to write home about, but they do make me smile (the exception to this is the intro skit, which was awesome). I groaned out loud when Frank announced he was gonna do his jazz musician thing again, but that that was soon replaced with a huge laugh when Josh made the comment about how the fans on the internet hated the last one! It's nice to know they're paying attention!
I loooove the intro. I like how we're little by little figuring out about the Titan's situation. Apparently they sleep in plasma beds, have food replenished daily, and their cable-that-is-not-really-cable can go out! Laughed out loud at Frank's insane knowledge about the actor's lives - "The same Susan Cabot whose dwarf son bludgeoned her to death after he became a body builder in a futile attempt to win her love?" Man, I'm laughing just repeating it!
All in all, a very funny, very entertaining episode. I'm putting my vote in that it's the best one yet! I can't wait for the next one!

Wasp Woman I liked it, but I think I may have liked the bulk of Doomsday better, minus the TERRIBLE 10 final minutes, that is. I think I was experiencing too many instances of seeing little things that begged for a riff, which never came. I was self-riffing and wondering why it wasn't coming from the CT guys instead. I do have to commend them on their riffing-pace. It's much more like a Joel-era MST3k than Mike era, in that the quantity is higher than the later MST3k episodes. One ever-presence item throughout Wasp Woman that I was expecting someone to hit-on - a reference to Church of the SubGenius

I posted a new review for The Wasp Woman Loved it, though Skull is still my fav. The Buddy Rich skit was side splitting for an old guy like me - Buddy was a royal dick, even in interviews he came off like a dick but boy could he drum. But yeah, it's gonna offend some people. Ah well, guess you can cover your ears and go "LA LA LA LA LA!" during the bit. ;D

Wasp Woman- Can you even get honey from wasps? Anyway- Loved MJs Board Meeting, calling out all the guys, and Traces "sucking up". And the Buddy Rich thing? I believe that dialog came directly from a "secretly taped" backstage meeting that I've heard on Stern. I was surprised at how well they managed to make the character younger looking. Corman Can Do Funny Things!

My review from my blogdjamacallit: bigredsfunbus.blogspot.com/2008/08/ct-wasp-woman.htmlDamn you Roger Corman and all who sail on you! Thanks to a love of the various riffing projects of these guys I've ended up seeing more of Corman's stinkers than anyone, Roger himself, should ever have to suffer. His approach to low-budget exploitation films fills me with bile. And yet, when something like The Wasp Woman comes along you feel cheated when very little happens. I mean if you know Corman, you know that this'll be the case thanks to lack of budget and a shooting schedule that's barely longer than it takes Paris Hilton to get done up in the morning. As Josh quips at one point of stunning penny-pinching; "You won't believe you're eyes. You won't get the chance to." But a film like this has the potential to be cheesy, goofy fun. What you get instead are some characters you can't give a damn about, because the script won't let you, talking for an hour before one becomes a ridiculous creature and starts the killing. But even that's kind of rubbish. Okay, Corman rant over, but what I'm highlighting is Cinematic Titanic's third outing's biggest flaw; they're riffing on a dull Roger Corman movie. It's just not quite goofy enough for it to become one of those magical riffing experiences where you enjoy the entire thing. But this isn't necessarily the fault of the CT team, who go at this one no matter how many dialogue driven scenes there are. In fact for the most part the riffing on Wasp Woman is the strongest CT has done so far. What's great about it is that it's that Season 2 through 4 of MST3K style, kind of lucid and goofy. They don't tear the movie apart so much as gently prod it until its cheese squirts out. But added into that is a whole darker element, thanks to the many, many heroin references in this one. I suppose they had to with the amount of shooting up shown, it rivals Trainspotting in the 'see a needle, down a shot' drinking game stakes. From Joel's "kissing God" reference to the Belushi dosage, there's some incredible material here. As for some of the quibbles with the first two, some of the line readings are still a little flat at times, with Frank's A.D.R. lines being particularly bad. Not only is the sound different but he just seems to read them, like he can't get into the moment or something. It's a shame because Frank actually does a great job in this one besides those and along with Mary Jo have shown some great improvement as riffers in the very short time where they've had to perform as well as write. The sketches vary, the openings are fun but brilliantly don't really explain too much about the premise in the way people hoped for after first outing The Oozing Skull featuring nothing at the start. The board room sketch is cute but doesn't quite go anywhere. Frank bringing back Buddy Rich for another in what I'm presuming to be a series of dead jazzist related sketches is very funny, Rich's dialogue and the performance are fantastic, and again play into the slightly darker tone of this episode. In many ways then Wasp Woman is Cinematic Titanic's best effort yet. The riffing's great, the sketches are fun and the movie does have its moments of goofiness. In tackling a Roger Corman clunker they've made their most MST3K-like one yet. But like those episodes of that show where the movie was slow and boring it takes some of the shine off of what they get right, and that's a shame as it is so right! And that, Mr. Corman, is why I cursed you.

Wasp Woman- I was surprised at how well they managed to make the character younger looking. Corman Can Do Funny Things! Another riff I was expecting, especially at the beginning when she was 'old', was anything to do with Mrs Beasley.

I think it's their best thus far.
By the way, the music was composed by Fred Katz. He was the musical director at Second City for years.

Just watched "Doomsday Machine" for the first time last night.
Wow! Loved this episode. In a strange way I enjoyed the film itself, too, because I have a fondness for dull spaceship movies and this one had a neat cast (the always watchable Grant Williams, Mike Ferrell, Casey Kasem, the old guy who played the lightning-struck bishop in "Caddyshack," etc.) It's a stitched together mess of celluloid, but it also makes for riffing gold for the CT crew.
As with "Oozing Skull," the riffing is MST3K quality. It's like my favorite show never left. Can't wait to see "The Wasp Woman" (which hopefully I'll get to tonight).

I would put it on par with any of the space drama episodes of the show. Easily as good as "Rocketship X-M", "First Spaceship on Venus", or "12 to the Moon", which are all personal favorites. Absolutely! Found myself thinking the same thing.
