Just watched "Doomsday Machine" for the first time last night. Wow! Loved this episode. In a strange way I enjoyed the film itself, too, because I have a fondness for dull spaceship movies and this one had a neat cast (the always watchable Grant Williams, Mike Ferrell, Casey Kasem, the old guy who played the lightning-struck bishop in "Caddyshack," etc.) It's a stitched together mess of celluloid, but it also makes for riffing gold for the CT crew. As with "Oozing Skull," the riffing is MST3K quality. It's like my favorite show never left. Can't wait to see "The Wasp Woman" (which hopefully I'll get to tonight). I too found myself enjoying the movie on my second viewing, and I actually really liked the comic relief guy and thought the actor playing done a nice job. The ending's turgid, but the Chinese lady's solution to how to get passed a guard dog is still one of the best things I've ever seen! ;D

"The Wasp Woman."
Another triumph from the CT gang! I found the film itself to be pretty watchable (and somewhat reminiscent of "The Leech Woman"), especially for Roger Corman. Riffing-wise, this is some of the CT crew's best work yet.
Look forward to watching this one again very soon. And have a feeling will be jonseing for new eps in a few weeks. lol

I have a new favorite. While I love The Oozing Skull, I think I like Wasp Woman just a little more. The jokes seemed much more natural and I had more "laugh out loud" moments this time around (most delivered by Mary Jo, btw).
On the downside, the middle skits weren't very good. The suck-up board meeting would have probably worked better had it occurred right after the suck-up board meeting in the film. And the Buddy Rich sketch did nothing for me (hopefully, the more "adult" humor seen here was just a one-off thing).
And, am I alone in thinking they need an end of movie skit? It sort of just stops dead at the end of the film.
Minor quibbles aside, CT really outdid themselves this time. I can't wait for the next one. ;D

Okay, I'm backtracking here. But on my fourth viewing, I'm finally starting to get into "The Oozing Skull."
Hadn't liked it very much till today.

As great as this release was, I'm kinda hoping they have some more watchable films in the future. Actually I hope they don't change a thing. Love how bad these films are--especially "Skull" and "Doomsday" (Dear Lord those are bad films lol--MST3K bad.) Found "Wasp Woman" surprisingly watchable.

I agree that Wasp ends pretty aburptly. Skull's still my fav and I like how it ends with MJs brain of blood mobile etc. He he - I can just see the Titan's though, thinking "Damn it, will they never be satified. Now we gotta come up with fanicer endings too!"

Well, they come into the studio at the beginning, and after viewing what they have to, they just want to get the hell out.
Frankly, I don't blame them.
(Can you imagine having to sit through something like Manos for four days trying to write for the damned thing? The mind, and stomach, reels.)

Just saw "Wasp Woman" last night. Very pleased. CT is coming along nicely. I too was surprised at how competent the movie is, in general.
I was really taken with just how close the plot is to "Leech Woman."
Where have we seen Wasp Lady elsewhere in MST3K? She seems really familiar.

Thanks, Change B. In "Viking Women" she was certainly one of the hottest in a large assemblage of hotties.

Found "Wasp Woman" surprisingly watchable. I know the Brains and some members of this board like to rake Corman over the coals, not entirely unjustified, but compared to Monster A Go-Go and a lot of other fare, Corman's films are pretty good. I'm a big fan of the original Little Shop Of Horrors.

Well, I've just finished my third viewing of "Wasp Woman", and I'm happy to say I liked it. Some favorite riff/bits: "Oh, 'Astronaut Picnic' one of my favorite Monet's" - MJ "#1...The Larch...The Larch." - Trace "This guy was the Pete Best of the Village People." - Josh Trace's Adjective montage during the, well, montage. During the first injection scene as the music builds I thought "The Outer Limits"...suddenly Joel bursts out..." THE OUTER LIMITS" *gfaw* "He calls it Dr. Cyclops?!""Who keeps a masturbation journal?" "Hey! What happen to mate then kill?" "Now there's three knobs in this scene.""Cooper's pipe is paying-off plot-wise!" Oh, and I've a new Corman hottie...or former hottie. Barboura Morris. Those eyes, those lips, that overbite! WOW! Oh, and Frank...? Nix the Cavalcades, PLEASE!
"OF COURSE IT'S THE SAME SUSAN CABOT!"

I love the little openings they do. Fave line from the opening of Doomsday Machine: "Eighty-six the robots." And the fact that the robots' silhouettes were all clearly recognizable.
