It's a possibility. Is there any more info about it, like the exact date, location, etc, available yet? I had to dig back in my email to find it (I was starting to get worried that I'd imagined the announcement): However, for those of you who just want to see the movie riffing live, we are pleased to announce…
CINEMATIC TITANIC LIVE! SAT. OCTOBER 25th 2008 At the historic STATE THEATRE in Minneapolis, MN
A full-blown, big screen, scaffold in place live presentation in a truly fantastic venue. I know it’s nine months from now, but we will be putting tickets on sale sooner rather than later and we will make sure you folks on the mailing list are first to know when.Haven't heard anything since this February announcement, hope it's still in place.

I want to go. It really depends on the date it is going to be held and my finances closer to time. It will involve a plane ticket, a rental car, a motel room and lots of Absinthe. Hell Yes I want to be there!

It's a possibility here too, since it's close. I've got dibs on McCloud as a hotel roommate, though! You got it, snookums! ;D

Yikes, that's a lot of money. I hope parking is available at the theater, something like the Days Inn (or others I haven't searched for yet) are in the sub-$100 range, and only a couple miles away. With Google Maps, it would be possible to drive between the two.

Yeah I'd prefer cheaper too honestly. I just listed the closest because they're well..the closest! Since I can't drive I'd have to rely on either a taxi or someone else's transportation. Obviously that's not everyone's situation. But thinking about it now, a taxi shouldn't be too expensive. But those hotels are for the people where money is no object I guess, lol.

If not there's garages a few blocks away, and you can take the skyway right to the State if winter is upon us by then. And that's an easy part of downtown to navigate in.

The Days Inn is close and cheapest (I saw $90/night). If all goes well I could provide some transportation from there. But any plans like that should probably wait until close to the actual show.

Out of those 3 that QS listed, the Marriott is cheapest at $149 per night. I looked for Days Inn, and the closest is on campus, 2-3 miles away. A RT plane ticket looks like around $380 right now, too. Two nights hotel + plane ticket = $529, plus taxes & fees, the ticket to the show, and money for food and drink. Wow. Expensive weekend, even with a room mate.

I'm trying to figure out what hotel I stayed in when I went up to Minneapolis to see Martin Guerre. It was a decent price. I think it had Bay in the name, but it was close to the MoA. That was like $80 for the night.
But it helps to buddy up too. HEY MCCLOUD--what was our hotel split for Denver?
If I could rent a car (BIG IF) I can drive up, and would be happy to haul peeps.

Last year at the meet-up? Did we show up Friday? If so, then you stayed Fri-Sun, and I stayed Fri-Mon. For 3 nights, I paid $335-ish, but you paid me half for two nights, just can't recall how much that was. If we can find a $90-ish per night place, that would be much better...obviously.

Agreed!
Going further from the theater might be better though. And it's not like Minneapolis isn't knee-deep in hotels. We definitely have to have a transportation scheme in place for everyone, though.
What's the mass transit up there like?

What's the mass transit up there like? Not that great. Most people still drive everywhere. You can take light rail from out by the airport/MoA area into downtown, though. You can get to within like 4 blocks of the theater that way. Though that is the only light rail line that we have, so if you stay somewhere else, you're out of luck other than buses or cabs. www.hennepintheatredistrict.org/bus_lrt/

There's a train that runs from downtown to the Mall of America (south)... when I was there in February, I stayed near the hotel in a Marriott... the BF used to work at one and got us a nice room for $39 a night.

Great deal, PT! sia, if you rent a car, I'll contribute half of the gas money, and chip in on the car.
