Heh, yeah.
For those of us who aren't too picky, there is a hostel...

hostel is totally do-able if they don't have a curfew. my preliminary search for RT airfare from Pitts was roughly 300... but like McCloud was saying...it's gonna be like a $600 weekend....easy. what are the ticket prices for the show itself??

No idea on ticket prices yet. I hope they stay true to their word and put them on sale sooner rather than later, as once they go on sale (or when they announce when they will go on sale - hopefully with prices) we should start getting serious about accommodations and book quickly after that. Cause you know things are gonna start filling up after people start buying tickets!

It will actually get cheaper once October comes a little closer... to fly from PGH anyway. When I went it was only $200 round trip. Delta and Northwest don't have their schedules that far ahead yet it seems, and they're usually the cheapest. Then again, with gas the way it is...

I'm planning on going. I may even drive over from Detroit, since I should have some extra vacation time to get there and back. By October its hard to say if gas for the trip will cost more than roundtrip airfare and a car rental.

There is a $2 train that goes straight from the airport to 2 blocks from the theater. Of course, you will probably be going straight to a hotel instead, but the downtown hotels are also only a couple of blocks from the theater. Trust me, I know the public transportation in Mpls well... I'm the one Mary Jo referred to in her CT blog post regarding the person taking a ten minute bus to go see them at Acme. ;D

Someone with local knowledge could really help us out. Any suggestions for hotels--ones close to the State Theatre for those with deep pockets, and decent cheap places to stay for the cash-strapped? What about a restaurant we could all meet at for dinner? Any idea about what time of day a show like CT might be?

I'm guessing it's in the evening. Assuming that's the case, I've been pondering the idea of finding a museum or some other attraction that a group of us board members can bum around in earlier in the day.

Huh. Looks very familiar. You wouldn't have happened to copy this from my thread on the Rifftrax board, huh? Not that I mind at all.

Hehe, I saw you had put a get together thread over there, and I thought it would be a good idea to organize one here as well (since I "know" people better over here). But the hotels I looked up myself. Funny how Google Maps would show us the same places huh?

Update update update!!! I just got the new CT email in my box right now, and we finally have a date the tickets for the show go on sale!! For members of the email club, they go on sale on June 29th (there will be a password or something), or July 1st for you non-clubbers. So can we start planning for real now?

I wonder if there will be a way that we can all get from similar rows or blocks of seats.

I wonder if there will be a way that we can all get from similar rows or blocks of seats. Maybe if we can all order that first day, June 29th. Or we can all request seats in the Ward E section?

In order for everyone to sit together, realistically someone would have to order all the tickets at once and then have everyone else pay them back. Unless someone on the board is independently wealthy, that's a lot of money to put up front, so that probably isn't going to work.
I probably won't be sitting with you guys at the show anyway, as someone else is hooking me up with tickets, so I'm sitting wherever they sit.
But what we can definitely start thinking about is Mini Meet-Up plans. Y'know, who's actually committed to going, start looking up cheap (yet clean) motels, transportation and whatnot. We should definitely hang out that weekend!
