A different favorite riffs thread (I think).
Background. After asking several months ago if anyone had a top-10 riffs list, I started making one. It's 10 pages long now, and I'm not done, but I've come up with several thoughts about riffing while re-watching with this project in mind.
One is this: how many of the riffs made you laugh--and hard--six or more times. You know the riff, you can probably recite it, you know it's coming...but still. It's damned funny every single time. Other riffs lose their punch after two viewings.
There are several half-dozen-ers for me. One probably isn't on anyone else's list, and I can't even explain entirely why I think it's so funny. At the beginning of the second Colossal Man movie, the kid is in a coma. The truck owner yells at him, "What did you do with my truck?!?" The Mexican policeman gently pushes him back and steps forward. As he does so, Crow says, in a bad Mexican accent: "Here, let me. What did you do with his truck?!?" Cracks me up every single time.
How about you? Name one or two or ten riffs that floor you upon the sixth or tenth or fifteenth watching.

From Track of the Moon Beast: Johnny Longbow: Paul isn't Paul any more! Crow: He's Super Paul!
That still makes me laugh harder than anything, no matter how many times I see the episode.

I don't think I'll ever tire of Joel saying, "My tires are filled with water!" in Eegah. The way he says it, especially the 2nd time, does me in.

I've got my whole family saying this one...and we belly laugh every time. Oh, and in "Riding With Death" when they show the pilot ejecting from the plane after Denby's sabotage: Mike: "I'm running a film now of a previous pilot ejection."

Oh gosh, where to begin? I can't think of every single one at the moment, but in particular is when in GSI Dan Kester opens the fridge and Mike says, "Wanna a piece of milk?" That whole scene was great.

That whole War of the Colossal Beast hospital scene is loaded with great riffs! Teenage Strangler has one of my faves, " All employees must wash feet before dancing on countertops". Mike seemed to be the master of the "understated boss comments", if there is such a talent.

Oh and in The Sinister Urge when Servo says "Hi I'm running for Porn Queen." I have no idea why that is so funny to me. I also do the scream laugh when Gloria comes out of the back room and Mike says, "That was a good CRAAAP!"

My favorite riff is from my favorite episode, Attack of the the Eye Creatures. After the the eye creatures have been defeated, the teen are reviving the oily drifter who wears a sweater dress. He awakens dazed and confused, and asking questions. Joel says for him,"What am I doing in men's clothing?" The timing was just so perfect. I also like in the Beast of Yucca Flats when the guys in the helicopter are shooting at the dad, and Mike says, "Hey! Don't shoot the dad of Yucca Flats!"

" And I will be the one...to hold Larry Csonka down, kiss him so hard, I'll take Larry Csonka's breath away!"

For some reason, even though there are literally millions of these moments, the first one I thought of was from Squirm, when the red-headed antique dealer sees some of Mr. Grimes' dead body:
CROW: Hm, what could possibly be on the other end of LEGS?

Two riffs from The Giant Spider Invasion: "I made a R!" and "We're your dirty socks! Wash us!"

In "Manos", I always laugh when the dad tries to start the car, and how Joel says "Turn it off. Turn it off!" How he says it makes it sound like that he's really pissed off at the guy in real life for making this movie and for his character not "displaying some simple competence", heh.
At the end of the short before "I Accuse My Parents", where they are all chanting "all hail the truck farmer" Classic...

Last night's MST ep: Riding with Death. It still makes me laugh when William Sylvester says that the place they are going closes at 1800 hours and Mike says, disgusted:
"So you have thirteen hours to get from Torrence to Long Beach."

That's Torrance to Long Beach. For some reason, I find it humorous also... But in Riding With Death- (in reference to the L.A. skyline/smog) "Birds? None..." From A Date With Your Family... Narrator: "Never go to bed with wet hair..." "...or a first date."

First one that came to mind? Gunslinger, when Caine is drunk in his room. They have already riffed on the fact that the door opens the wrong way and he's actually in the hall. When evil Erica knocks on his door, Tom slurs "Come out!" I lose my breath laughing every time.
