I see this way of thinking on sites like BadMovies.org all the time. Some people get so upset that anyone would poke fun at someone else's "art". The world is divided into two camps. Those that think all movies must never be altered from their original form... And the rest of us, who HAVE a sense of humor. well said just adding - i became a Bruno Ve Sota fan because of MST - Watching Giant Leeches I thought, you know for a silly movie, this guys really doing a marvelous job. Since then if I see Bruno's on Bonanza or whatever, I'll stop and watch it.

I find it funny that he's giving the implication that MST3k drives people away from old movies which is complete hogwash considering they've done their fair share of recent crap like Future War,Robot Holocaust,Werewolf, and Deathstalker. Sure the majority of the movies they did were from the 50s and 60s but that means nothing because bad cinema knows no time era(for lack of a better phrase).

I just left the reviewer a "thank you" note... In a lit brown paper bag on his front porch?

I've come up with more to say on this, but instead of putting it all here, I'll just shamelessly say, click on my LiveJournal below.

FYI, the link has a "www." in front of the name. If you take that out, the livejournal page comes up.
Also, I mostly agree with what's on it.

Hi gfanikf! Speaking of the Classic Horror Film Board, thanks for that link you sent to Doctor Wolfstein. =) Anyway, with MST some people “get it” and some people just don’t. The argument that it ruins people’s perceptions of the films is the most flawed one. Where did they get the information from to make that claim? Was there a study? Or are they just talking out of their asses? I loved those old creature features as a kid before I ever saw an episode of MST3K and if anything its increased my love of cheesy movies 10 fold. It’s not like they’re riffing on Casablanca. It’s the fricking Wasp Woman. WASP-WOMAN. BZZZZZZ.

Do we really take anyone seriously that has a "IV" at the end of his name?

Do we really take anyone seriously that has a "IV" at the end of his name? Only if he’s a robot, like “The Review-o-bot VI”.

Sadly, Stuart's was not. He's ignored my comments on my movie taste and how MST3K helped to shape it (and I left the guy pictures too) and ignored my offer to download our custom made soundtracks of Manos, EGGAH, or Girl in Gold Boots. It seems Stuart has a lack of respect for these movies, not us!

At this point in the discussion people have made up their minds about how they feel about the situation and anything else is just dragging out the argument to a painful degree. Its time for the healing process to begin so everyone can move on.

It seems Stuart has a lack of respect for these movies, not us! MST3K always was, to me, a show about film criticism disguised as comedy. They've picked up that mantle and run with it at CT. The trouble with the internet postings is that people who have such an exaggerated opinion of themselves, much like Stuart IV, think they and only they are right and f*ck anyone who tries to say anything different. If he had any knowledge of film history, TRUE film history, i.e. saw it all as it was released, he would have a different attitude than some bitter old queen at a bar railing away that they don't make 'em like they used to. And that is the way he comes across. If he doesn't like my saying that: tough noogies. He does come across as a bitter queen. And you know what they always say: Them that can't criticize.
