tvshowsondvd.com/news/Mystery-Science-Theater-3000-Volume-14/10846Now we've got the scoop on that second Shout! release. Following Rhino's 12 multi-disc sets, and Shout!'s first release, the new 4-DVD package is going by the title of Mystery Science Theater 3000 - XIV (or you can just call it "MST3K 14" for short). The info provided to retailers this morning is that it will street on February 3, 2009. Video will be full frame, audio in English and the running time is listed as 480 minutes. Bonus material details aren't available yet, but here is the list of episodes, along with the front cover art: Mad Monster Manhunt in Space Soultaker Final Justice

Looks to be a lot of love for Joel, 2 host episodes and his single post-host guest appearance! As much as I loved Volume 13 (the 20th Anniversary set), this is a much more fitting "20th anniversary" collection as almost every character and actor is given their due in some form. The casual fans probably saw the last set's documentary and thought "where the hell is this Dr. Laurence Earnhardt??"

Note: the run time is 480 minutes, but an average episode lasts 90 minutes (360 minutes total) leaving us with 2 hours of special features!!! Also consider trailers will probably be included as they were in the last set, totaling roughly 10 minutes for all four films. I wonder what the other 110 minutes of features will be!

That is awesome. One episode I've never seen, one that I haven't seen in a long time, Joe Don Baker and SoultakerI'm happy. ;D

Would have been nice if they included "Crash Of The Moons" on the set instead of "Mad Monster"... but whatever, this is a nice set.

Not what I was hoping for, but not terrible either. I REALLY want more Season 3 episodes! Either Gamera or the Sandy Frank stuff. I know that those episodes are probably harder to get, but I was hoping that Shout Factory would make more of an effort to get the harder stuff...

@queen Shadowrama: Agreed! I'm very happy with this set. Soultaker was one of my "must haves", next to Laserblast and Diabolik, in terms of impact on the series. Thankfully we now have two of them on DVD.

I like the choices in this set two Joel's and two Mike's. Plus another season 1 to boot. I cannot complain.

Hrm . . . two episodes I don't care for, and two I enjoy but already have fifty copies of. Least they were able to wrangle around the copyright hullabaloo for the General Hospital short, that's gotta count for something. And they're sticking with the pre-existing numbering system. Oh well, there's always the next set.

Not bad. Big improvement over their first volume.
Though it's not a good episode, love to get another prisitine season 1 episode. And of the other three, Soultaker is really the only lame one of the bunch. And I only have one of them on DVD, which is always a plus
Also, nice to see them announce it so quickly. And only a 3 month lag between sets is a big improvement.

ehh...
Can't say I'm that thrilled with the selection, but more MST on dvd is always a good thing.

It's interesting they're sticking with Rhino's collection numbering.
I'm glad that Joel has 2 episodes in this collection, but I wish that there was a CC Mike episode rather than 2 SciFi Mikes.

The numbering reminds me of the Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episodes. I guess it makes sense to continue the system, as there are already 13 DVDs on the market.

Though a lot of those have been released so far, so I can't complain TOO much. Just gotta be happy it's not 3 SciFi eps again. That would have been a very bad sign, I'm thinking.

AWESOME!!! This is great news! I'm so glad we're getting SOULTAKER, plus two episodes with shorts I was unsure about rights-wise (this bodes extremely well for several episodes!!). And I like that Shout is carrying over the numbering system.
