So, anyone else catch it? I didn't think I'd be able to at first, but I lucked out.
Very different from your standard Joss Whedon affair, but not in a bad way, I think.

I happened to see it, and enjoyed it. My prior exposure to Joss Whedon projects only consists of Firefly/Serenity and Dr. Horrible (both of which I really like), but I definitely agree that it was nothing like either one of those.
It seems like a nice premise to have a mainly episodic show, but with a deeper overarching storyline. Hopefully it stays as good as the first episode.
Completely random side note: I kind of know Joss Whedon's brother Sam, he's a friend of a friend of my Dad's.

At first I wasn't sure about this. It's sad what happens to these people. And I was thinking they've got the personalities of the clonus clones and your going to have this episodic Quantum Leap thing going with a different personality each week.... I dunno
But after the first 10 minutes I was hooked. That was a damned fine pilot episode and I'm looking forward to watching more.
I'm far more impressed with it than I was with the hyped Fringe, and with me losing faith with Heroes, I could use a new good show to watch. *crosses fingers*

Why had I not heard of this? I'll have to see if I can check it out online or something.

I was impressed good opening episode but this being a Whedon show it may be best not to become too attached, the man doesn't have a good track record with being able to finish his TV shows when he wants to!

I was only able to catch brief snippets of this show. My younger daughter was in the same room, and the show's too gory and violent for her. So my main impression was one of utter confusion. I was impressed good opening episode but this being a Whedon show it may be best not to become too attached, the man doesn't have a good track record with being able to finish his TV shows when he wants to! And also being a Whedon joint, it means one shouldn't get too attached to any of the characters either. At any moment, they're liable to get killed off or disfigured or to have their personality flushed down the toilet.

Just FYI, it's available on the Fox website to watch online. I can't watch anything on my computer. It's too slow.

grab some ear buds or headphones and use one at the library.
and Donna what you say is true. I've always said, the worst thing that happened to Firefly was that it was cancelled, and the best thing that happened to Firefly was that it was cancelled. I'd have rather had a full year or 2 with it... but he does tend to do that (As we saw with Serenity film). Even his run on X-Men ended rather strangely and dissappointingly.

Well, I watched it over the weekend. I enjoyed it enough to keep an eye on the series. Also, the beds at the end reminded me of Help!.

Meh, I wasn't that impressed but I'll give it a chance. It can at least kill time before BSG.

Was Angel cancelled at a time when Joss didn't want it to be? I'd sort of thought that Firefly was the only show of his that got cancelled at a bad time (and I was also under the impression that he was also able to end Buffy when he wanted to, if the commentary for season 7's first episode is to be believed...but then again, I can see him intentionally saying that it was his idea to "fire everyone" if he thought that everyone watching the commentary might know the whole story.)
However, I *am* worried about the show because it happens to be on Fox. The channel just loves to kill the shows that I love on it. Futurama, Lone Gunmen, Firefly...
And the annoying part is that of all the "fan favorite" shows that it cancelled, the only one it brought back was the one that I disliked the most.
Yes, I'm sorry, I know Family Guy fans are happy that it's back, I just never cared for it. Grumble, mumble...
