I know about the four Film Crew releases. Have the RT guys released anything else "complete" with the movie or Short they riff on?
I'm asking because I don't do the I-Pod thing...
Thanks.

I don't have an iPod either, but you shouldn't let that get in the way. After you watch all the DVDs, you could always watch the VODs on your computer. You could also burn the mp3 files to a disc and listen to them on an mp3 compatible boombox. That's what I do. The Rifftrax Player works well for some people. If none of that stuff works for you, Incognito Cinema Warriors XP and Josh Way have DVD releases too.

It is also real easy to make your own DVDs with the audio synced. I have never used an ipod or boombox to watch a riff.

A friend of mine is letting me borrow some of his riff-tracks. Missle to the Moon was one of them, but the movie's audio is too low...

The DVDs are also available for rental through Netflix. Sorry to say it, but they're leaving CT in the dust.

Has anyone seen all of these yet? Any consensus on which are the best? The shorts were great I thought but I’m not sure where to start with the others. Right now I’m thinking maybe Plan 9, since I’ve never seen it, and either Missile to the Moon or House on Haunted Hill. Is Carnival of Souls any good?

I'm not tech-savvy, nor do I have a burning desire to be, so settling on DVDs from RT is good enough. Knowing myself all too well, I'd just get frustrated trying to sync the RT audio with a dvd of whatever movie they're commenting. As far as riffing quality is concerned, I've found them to be hit or miss; at times I think that they are more concerned with product quantity over quality. However, as the saying goes, if you keep throwing your stuff out there, some will stick, and I think that's the case with RT: their shorts collections and a couple of their movies are actually entertaining. And having something available is better than keeping fans holding their breath, like what CT has done recently.

Knowing myself all too well, I'd just get frustrated trying to sync the RT audio with a dvd of whatever movie they're commenting. What part of the process scares you? I'm genuinely curious. The process is incredibly easy (in fact, we couldn't make it easier if we tried). It's really like this: 1. Play mp3. Wait for Mike's instructions. 2. Pause mp3 when Mike says "1, 2, 3, pause." 3. Play DVD. 4. Unpause mp3 (where Mike said to in the instructions.) It might be a little weird the first time you do it, since it's not as easy as "1. Play DVD" but believe me when I say it's really incredibly simple to do. In fact, if you'd like, email me at torgospizza ((at)) gmail.com and I'll send you a gift certificate - that way, you can give it a try on us. Let me know the name of a DVD you own (or would like to rent) that has a RiffTrax and I'll hook you up.

^ Plus the rifftrax player is great. That's how I listen to them. Once in a while something will give me problems (Twillight just wouldn't play on my laptop at all) but usually it works wonderfullu and I don't have too many synch issues (pausing for bathroom breaks can take you out of synch or kill the commentary compeletly on occassion)

I really don't get the "quantity over quality" argument/complaint that comes up from time to time. How long did they take to write an episode of MST? 2 days? 3 Days? and that is including host segments. What is the difference?

It's ridiculous for several reasons. 1, what you mentioned. 2, people don't know how long it takes us, they just know how often they are released. Just because they're released a week apart does not mean they were just worked on during that week. 3. How long do people really think this should take? It's hard work, but most of the work is in the writing/refining. From a performance/technical standpoint, you really don't need much time at all. 4. A new bunch of shorts is usually similar to doing a new movie in terms of writing. It's not like we're creating two of them a week.

I just bought the new shorts collection and they had an option for purchasing the physical DVD. Do they not have an option for physical DVD for their movies? I haven't checked so I just wondered.
