We had technological problems too. First the video feed wasn't running right, then the DVD kept pausing and starting again every couple minutes (still, it was better than "Twilight"). We had a good feed then for over an hour when we lost the video during the water short, then it stopped altogether. We got refunds at least.
Still, it was a riot. Tons of laughs, and my favorite was Kevin as the no-account tree when it was being chopped down. It's amazing what people came up with before Owsley invented LSD.
To be honest, Weird Al didn't contribute much. He was just there.

Sucks that a lot of you had problems. I can at least understand the theaters that didn't turn down the lights (where applicable). Most of the time when you see a movie, the lights are automated to turn down when the film starts. I guess the same automation isn't possible with a live broadcast, so I can understand if some theaters forgot that they had to do it manually.

I was originally worried that the Christmas shorts would wear thin after awhile, but I must say that I think I laughed harder at last night's show than I have at any other live RT or CT performance so far. I literally had a headache afterwards (in a good way). My theater was only about 2/3 full (compared to the sold out "Plan 9" show), but everyone was into it. The shorts just kept getting more and more bizarre, and as they went on I couldn't think how they could possibly top the last one...but they did! The only dry spell was the Aquatic Diving thing, which had some laughs but was not only relatively weak, it didn't even have anything remotely to do with Christmas.
Highly recommend that anyone who missed this catch the encore tonight. DVD please!!

I'm sad to say that I was late for the first half hour. My ride had agreed to pick me up at 6:30 or 6:45, but didn't get me until 7. Plus he needed me to drop him off instead of the other way around.
Still, I made it for the tail end of the little Christmas tree of no consequence short, and saw about ten/fifteen minutes of that. Weird Al came on then for the Pork short, so I don't feel like I missed too much.
And I loved the "presents" that Mike, Kevin and Bill received.

I also was pleased that they dispensed with the awkward opening material that bogged down the Plan 9 show. Remember that MC who opened the last show? She was awful, her "jokes" unfunny and poorly delivered, and at times she looked like she didn't know where she was. There were the semi-funny, but oddly out-of-place fake commercials, and then there was the musical act that was OK--not great--and in my opinion went on way too long. They got it right last night by going right into the shorts. I bought tickets to enjoy movie riffing....nothing else.
As a Weird Al fan, I guess I would have enjoyed a live musical performance of one of his Christmas songs (they could have cut the swimming short for that). But oh well.
"This jerk's gettin' a shovel! Ho-ho-ho!"

BTW, I’ve been able to find almost all of the shorts they riffed online, but does anyone know where one can find that “Three Magic Words” pork short, unriffed? YouTube, Google Video, etc. come up dry.

ok.. I have been ghostly on here for a looooong time, but I am going to the encore tonight. So I wanted to pop my head in. Would have gone last night but I was already obligated to be at Disney, so I'll be seeing it tonight. I'm guessing with the encore presentation they will fix a lot of the technical glitches. I'll let you all know later tonight. Very excited to go see it.

I enjoyed the show very much, as did everyone in the audience at my theater. It wasn't full by any means, but everyone was into it and obviously were fans. It's been a long time since I laughed that much. I used up a stack of napkins from our snacks wiping tears from my eyes. I remember the Gaylord dog commercial from when I was a child. It was way out of my family's price range, but was very popular at the time. The jet pilot was also familiar, but the dingalings didn't ring a bell, so to speak. They were quite bizarre. I can understand how children grew up with deep-seated issues after seeing some of the toys of the time. I wonder what happened to the free digital stuff that was supposed to be shown at the end of the show. Did anyone see that?

For anyone that missed the link, the free stuff is all here: www.rifftrax.com/toyshop(If this is some sort of secret that shouldn't be spread around, I'll take it down, but I've seen it posted on other places, so...) Edit to add: Apparently in this very thread! Somehow I missed that. As for the show itself: I liked it. I laughed at basically what everyone else mentioned. But I am small, and of no account.

I liked Veronica Belmont in that first show... And while I didn't like Plan 9s musical act, I wish Weird Al would have done at least one number.
This was okay, a bit one note. Part of the problem was that my stomach picked that day to act up, so I didn't get much sleep and couldn't eat... so not in the best frame of mind and by the end I just wanted to go home and close my eyes and SLEEP!
The theater was about a 3rd of what Plan 9 had, so it wasn't as raucous, but what folks were there seemed to be enjoying themselves. There were good laughs, Cerrita was there with her dad and it was nice to see them.
