It seems to me that they should be able to release the Gamera movies because they are considered public domain in the US. I read somewhere because Kadokawa had bought Daiei for some reason our copyright laws did not recognize the transfer of rights for Gamera to Kadokawa. I wish I could find where I read that. I'd want them to go for it if they thought they had a air tight case on that, but it seems Shout wants to cover their butts a little more then that since we were told not to expect them. Course were told not to expect TFS too so who knows what could happen.

MAP ISRAEL!!! As any mistie would suspect, I'm bursting with joy for this set!!! Episode 101 is a historic addition, BLoodwaters was one of the few shows htat I taped and then lost, Beatniks I know nothing about (always good to have an episode that I've never seen) and, oh yeah... ROWSDOWER COMES TO DVD! For the first time I wish that the uncut version of a film was included. Edit: I had to mention the extreamly odd VHS cover for TFS under its original title. Dear god, the actors look nothing like anything in the film. lol Which one is Zap? Which one is Troy? Where is the Zonk?!

That was back when the video cover could have nothing to do with the film.
Woo hoo. The Final Sacrifice, My hopes were dashed and then restored.

This is really great. I really like Blood Waters, Final Sacrifice and The Beatniks. I remember watching The Crawling Eye a long time ago, but the VHS copy was only so-so. I'm looking forward to seeing the DVD. Can't wait to see what extras they'll have.

The film is copyrighted in Japan because Kadokawa inherited the rights from Daiei. However, US law does not recognize this inheritance of the rights so under US law there is no recognized intellectual property owner successor to Daiei, and so the film is in the public domain within the US. Although no source for the info is given and it only appears on that page and not any of the other Gamera movies.

It would seem, going on what SF said, that the Gamera films are back with Kadokawa (and Neptune Media is long gone, perhaps Kadokawa reacquired the rights that way).

The only thing that would make this set better would be if a Rowsdower figurine was included in the box set Hell. Yes.

Just wish this was more "new" for me... Yeah, me too. It's taken 17 volumes to happen, but this is the first time I already own 3/4 of the episodes on an upcoming set. So hopefully "The Beatniks" is an above average episode. Every time I watch "The Crawling Eye" I fall asleep and lose all memory of it. Not a good sign. But it's a landmark episode and I would love for every episode to see an offical release, so I won't complain. But I really do need a break from season one. "The Final Sacrifice" is a great (if slightly overrated) episode that features one of my all-time favorite host segments. It'll be nice to have a higher quality copy of it. "Blood Waters of Dr. Z" has become a seasonal episode for me. It used to be one of my least favorite episodes but I find that if I watch it once or twice a year, around Halloween, I actually look forward to seeing it. A while back on the boards, I remember sombody saying that they loved the whole 'grindhouse' vibe of the film...and I get that now. I can't think of another MST'd film that has quite the same feel to it. Overall, a decent set.

This is a good set, for sure.
Can somebody make a year-by-year graph that shows all the commercial releases, so we can see visually the timeline of releases. That's probably asking too much. I know you guys aren't really that into MST3K official releases...

Well I'm happy, I have never seen Beatniks but heard rave reviews from seasoned msties. I'm also looking forward to Bloodwaters growing on me, really all I remember is SARGASSUM! the weed of deceit! Final Sacrifice will replace my worn out copy (my first purchase from skyroniter!) and I've also never seen Crawling Eye. Yippee! Christmas has come early...well I guess it will come 3 months late...

I ordered it this evening.
I always pre-order. Hence, my possession of Volume 10 and Godzilla.
