Seems like it would work better with the audience mixed louder. Hard to tell until watched at home with the volume cranked like an actual live CT show. But I think that would help facilitate the illusion of it being a live show. The riffs themselves weren't doing a lot for me, but their trailers rarely do the "episode" justice. But I did find myself laughing out loud at some riffs that weren't really that funny, so it is channeling some of the mojo of actually seeing them with a group of CT fans. It's certainly not the same as seeing them live, but it's much closer than the studio DVD's were, so it's an improvement even before the quality of the riffs, movie, and performances are taken in consideration. It's hard to tell from 5 minutes how the audience track will hold up. It doesn't sound like canned laughter, at least. I wonder if we're hearing an actual recorded audience track(s), or if what we're hearing is just the bleed into the Titan's mics? If it is a seperate track, then what's to stop them from allowing you to turn if off or on? That may even be an option on this disc. Anyway, hopefully these round of DVD's will tide over the I Want My DVD fans for a while so they can expand their touring schedule next year. If Rifftrax is the late-period Beatles of riffing, CT needs to become the Dead.

Well, this is...different. I'm on the fence as to whether I like this format, but I'll reserve until I actually watch the full ep. at home. At first, I thought the illuminated faces of the riffers on the sides of the screen was a touch creepy, but I think I could get used to it. I saw this one live, and while I didn't think it was near as funny as "The Alien Factor", it was okay. Still not a fan of hearing audience laughter during the riffing, but I'll buy the disc and give it a shot.

Like many others have said, I'm sort of not happy with this, but sort of curious as well.
Glad the audience doesn't sound like a laugh track or anything, but it's still kinda annoying.

I don't like the laughtrack effect.
I'll pass unless it has an audio option to turn it off.
Bummer.

Has there been any leaks of the Rifftrax Live Plan 9 DVD? Or have they released other live DVD's? Do they handle the "laugh track" differently than CT apparently has?

Wow. That really sucked. I won't buy this one unless they release a studio version.
Poor audio, annyoing audience, no shadowrama... Maybe it is cheaper for them to make it this way, but the quality really suffers. Why would anyone want a laugh track to this show? I wouldn't laugh at every single line, so why would I want to hear people on my tv laugh?

I am looking forward to this. There is no "laugh track". It's the audience reaction. MY reaction as I saw them doing it.
It is one of the best they've done.

At the very least this is something different for riffing.
Their studio DVD's have yet to recapture that vibe of watching a bad movie with a few of your hilarious friends, the vibe that made MST3K so great. And they probably would never get back to that level with their current setup.
I mean, I enjoy the new DVD's when they come out, but when I'm in the mood for riffing, I'm MUCH more likely to pull out an MST3K episode.
Live riffing is what CT brings to the table. Riffing as a performance, and a communal experience, is what makes CT special. If there's a way to capture some of that in their DVD releases, it's worth pursuing IMO.
But just like Rifftrax, it's not going to work for every MSTie.

I think this may be the thing to really give Cinematic Titanic its own identity.

Having just watched the trailer, I laughed my ass off. I'm willing to give it a shot as far as a live show format.

Same! They looked and sounded more natural and relaxed riffing live. I'm really looking forward to this one after watching the trailer.

I loved the riffs, anyway!
I did have a little problem hearing Josh's deep voice, otherwise, I'm in!

Positives: -Shot for Wide Screen, though the shows I really love I still watch in 4:3 -Martial Arts film -CT finally got something out for their fans that can't do live shows
Negatives: -I'm used to watching this show without a laugh track. I realize this is a live audience reaction, but being a fan of MST, Arrested Development, and The Office (US), I've grown accustomed to watching shows without that possible distraction. It does depend on the mix, but I doubt there's a DD or DTS 5.1 mix with the audience in the rear channels.
Undecided: -Titans facing me, rather than the screen and being in silhouette. It's not that I find them repulsive or anything, but we all get used to what were used to.
