Remember: financially, it's a detriment. It's more expense for the production. More time for the artists to spend on something that's NOT full length.
And I don't think shorts would be copacetic with their live show structure.

Remember: financially, it's a detriment. Remember? I'll assume this is another opinion and that I'm not forgetting something the titans have said. It helped me decide to start buying Josh Way's iriffs on DVD when I discovered each one had a short. Most old timers will buy anything CT does, but maybe a short with the feature would pick them up someone on the fence, or a fan of Rifftrax's shorts. Expense doesn't automatically mean detriment.

Cal, it does when you're the producer. You HAVE to look at it from a production angle. It's one more thing you have to consider, especially since the Titans LOVE performing live, and would want to do it in front of a live audience. And apparently, that's what they're going to keep doing, more power to them!
They have to pay for the rights to what they use, unless they're in public domain. (Roger Corman fought them about Wasp Woman. He's a real dickweed.)

well, i'm going to still believe one day it could happen - them doing shorts. never say never. and if it helps increase their dvd sales - and yes, ticket sales to the live shows, how could that be a bad thing? other artists have made it work.

And I don't think shorts would be copacetic with their live show structure. I really don't know, I'm just asking here - but does the whole shadowrama setup really cost that much? I mean, it seems like it's financially viable for Rifftrax to do a bunch of shorts, and it seems like the only difference in cost would be the shadowrama itself. For one-off shorts, I can see how the cost might not be worth it, but a public domain short before the movie couldn't cost that much more, could it? Also, I don't see how shorts could possibly have a negative effect on their live shows, but I am speaking as someone whose never seen them live.

Oh good, I thought you actually read it somewhere or something. I'm on board with hoping they start adding a short to the beginning of each feature; at least the shorter ones. They're like the perfect appetizer before the main course. Yummy!

I do believe that every short Rifftrax has done is public domain. There are a million of them.

Personally, I don't think the Titans want to be bothered to do shorts. You guys know how they work; they're very focused, and I think a short would be a distraction for them, as much as I'd like to see them do it.

I think that they should do some shorts. They already should know they're popular. I enjoy them alot myself.

It would provide a natural break with a short movie. Watch the short. Go sell a few tee shirts and then on to the main show. You don't have to release them with the movie. Sell them at different times. That avoids a big gap between releases. Have a few shorts already filmed, then when its been too long between releases, you sell short.
I'll miss the black and white movies. They're my favorites.

Wouldn't it be too difficult with five riffers on a short?

Wouldn't it be too difficult with five riffers on a short? Make a joke out of it and throw one or two out. Trace gets away or something.

i can't see how doing a short with five people would be any harder than riffing a movie with five people. mike, kevin and bill did fine when they added a guest riffer to their american thrift short. they are all such pros at this, i believe they could make it work.
