I may have to start watching this show again since they brought in my favorite character.

@mod City (acause quoting a select text is a pain in the ass on my cell)
The Dead always come a walkin' come Halloween. At least the wait isn't as long this year as it was last year. And we got 16 episodes to look forward to next season!
I'll say this, season two took a while to rev up its motor, but one can't deny it went out with a bang. The finale was sensational. Might just be the best episode of the series.

It did go out with a bang. A bunch of bangs. No real surprises in who died.
Next season in the prison should be interesting. Started reading the comic then decided not to continue. Even though the show isn't following it literally, I would rather be totally fresh.

I hope what happened at the prison in the comic comes to pass on the show. I liked that quite a bit. And with Merle coming back, next season is shaping up to be pretty nice. The show has a way of trying my patients with characters and scenarios but always hitting the jackpot in the end. Keep it coming.

Good stuff. They REALLY need to give poor T-Dog some lines! Give him something to DO! He's just kind of there. I think this is one of the best shows on TV these days. (I didn't know ANY of those farm people's names except Maggie and Herschel. They never really stood out in any of the episodes, even what's-her-name when she was feeling sick, so yeah, I guess they were just there to get offed). Hey, my sig line is oddly appropriate for this thread. (edit: I've since changed it, so never mind )

Season 2 was released on DVD and Blu-Ray today. After about a year and a half, my Blu copy of season 1 finally has a brother!
Sicker on the case told story that the dead will rise again on October 14th. So soon? I don't have a thing to wear!
I'm about to dig into the bonus features. I'll let you all know what I think of the new set!

I'm really looking forward to Season Three. Started reading the comics but realized I prefer to have no idea what's next.

I want to read the comics but I'm too poor to catch up with them. That's like 25 collected editions at 10 bucks a piece? Yeah, screw that.
Anyway, the new set is pretty good. I enjoyed the featurettes, especially the one where Robert Kirkman compared what happens in the series to what happens in the comics (pssst, Sophia's still alive). And they helped me appreciate all the little aspects, like the music and effects work. They all truly pulled off something remarkable. The commentaries are good as well.
The only thing on the disc I didn't enjoy were the webisodes. Full of bad acting and they traded tension for gore. Really shoddy side dish to a great series.

I haven't picked up any DVDs yet but I did see the trailer they showed for season 3 at Comic-Con. It's at least a couple minutes long and it looked intense.
Caught the last part of the Nebraska episode the other night and remembered how much I liked it. The last scene with Rick and the two strangers in the bar is one of the best in the series. Talk about tension. Good stuff.
I'm ready for the new season.

The trailer I saw on AMC looked badass and got me pretty excited as well. It doesn't hurt that the show comes back in October, and is now all tied into my happy good time feelings associated with Fall and Halloween. I wrote this up for another message board, and thought I'd share. Film analysis is a hobby of mine, and I love uncovering tiny details that speak volumes about the larger story and reveal hidden meanings. It also adds to the artistic merit of the story, and imbues a level of intelligence to those involved. Your thoughts are appreciated. SPOILERS! I've been meaning to post this one for awhile, but I had some trouble finding the pic. I'm a big fan of The Walking Dead (the comic and the TV show), and one of my favorite characters is Daryl. For those not familiar with the plot, Daryl is one of many survivors struggling with the undead apocalypse. While the other characters go through the spectrum of human emotion in the face of the end times, he remains stoic and detached. Half way through the second season, a young girl goes missing and he spearheads the search for her at his own peril, even as time goes on and her fate grows bleak. Through this storyline, we learn there is a vulnerable soul behind his tough guy exterior. He also begins sporting a biker vest with a pair of wings on the back. Later in this season, he takes on a role of "enforcer" for the leader of the group. Not only does he dispatch the lion's share of the zombies, he also ends the misery of a comrade who's been bitten, and is relied upon to execute a living interloper who threatens the groups balance. Some online fans have criticized this costume choice for reasons of machismo. After some thought I realized this must be a statement on the character. Under his rough exterior is the angelic soul of a man who still retains his humanity. His enforcer role colors the wings in a more ominous tone. As he was tasked with killing the living and undead alike, I think his inner humanity has been compromised, effectively making him an "angel of death", complete with wings.

Almost time. I wish they had run that marathon that they had on closer to when they were going to start the new season.
Edit: Nevermind. They're running it again. Watching it as I type. ;D

Ooops. I tried to start a new thread and overlooked this one. I really liked the opening episode of the new season. It had a lot of action and character interaction. There you go, what do you you think?

Haven't seen the first episode yet. I'm going to watch it tomorrow I think.
Heard it drew in massive ratings. Looks like the Dead will survive for many years to come.
