That's sad to hear. I have to admit, I thought he was older the 82 despite the fact that he looked much, much younger than that only until recent years. I'll remember him from Saturday afternoon American Bandstand shows, at least that's when I remember it being on (could have been syndicated reruns for as much as I remember). Seemed like a nice, cheery host and decent guy.
Rest well, sir.

I hope he makes a cameo next New Years Eve. Hologram maybe.

Disney is already reanimating him.

I hope he makes a cameo next New Years Eve. Hologram maybe. Well since we have Tupac doing a hologram performance at Coachella that wouldn't surprise me. Hell, go the whole 9 yards and find a way to digitally insert the upcoming new year into Holo Dick's mouth.

My favorite Bandstand moment (and I don't have many... didn't watch much) was Public Image Ltd with John Lydon giving up lip syncing about halfway through the song.

I totally forgot about watching Dick on the $20,000 Pyramid as a kid. What memories, with all those great guest stars like Nipsey Russell, Soupy Sales, MacLean Stevenson, etc. What I wouldn't give to hear one of Nipsey's poems right now. And Dick, as a host, made the game exciting. He was great.

Being a fan of Pre-DSOTM Pink Floyd, and Syd Barrett especially, I thought I'd add a very rare moment with Dick, here & Floyd a while before they made it big in the Prog-Rock world. Here's an archived tape of Dick Clark & The Floyd on American Bandstand.youtu.be/6MMMN0VZmYwSadly, because of Syd's mental breakdown, the American tour was a bust, it wouldn't be until '73 til they "made it" here in The States. Not many know that Dick Clark had Pink Floyd on American Bandstand (albeit before they were famous & when they were a 'Swingin' Sixties' thing rather than Prog-Rock). Dick Clark was great. I remember my childhood with Bandstand (and the theme by Barry Manilow...yes, I'm an X-er). New Years wont be the same without Clark. I'll certainly miss the myriad of cheesy "eternal youth" jokes. Deity bless you, Dick Clark...and say "hi" to Syd & Rick for me, 'kay?
