On the one hand, when I hear people complain about not having power after 4 days, I'm like holy crap 8 million+ people didn't have power... gonna take some time. On the other hand, I try to remember a) a lot of the people complaining might have NO access to media and not realize just how SMASHED the eastern seaboard got. It's still incredibly shocking as someone who has lived through more hurricanes than I can count. And b) I remember how frustrated I was after Hurricane Fran when it took over a MONTH for us to get power back. Either way the entire situation blows. I certainly hope this gets people thinking right, not only about climate change, but about getting our coastal cities set up with a 21st century infrastructure. It's not like we DIDN'T SEE THIS COMING: nypress.com/the-big-one/

I can't believe everyone's buying into this government storm conspiracy. We all know the real cause of the problem. Not Pictured: Ray breaking the power lineOn a more serious note, there's a lot of damage and a lot of people without power, or homes. I hope the northeast can quickly come back from this and get to some state of normalcy before the weather really gets bad. If anything, New Yorkers can all band together and laugh at their mayor, who is completely insane.

i understand this is from rockaway beach in new york. unbelievable. things like this, though, give me hope. it's cool how people are trying to help each other, despite the mounting problems and frustrations.

If anything, New Yorkers can all band together and laugh at their mayor, who is completely insane. Oh, we do that when things are completely normal.

I'm sure they'll get right on that after rebuilding all those shattered communities.

It's been snowing for most of the day. We have about 3 inches of wet sloppy snow on the ground right now. What fun. I feel bad for the people who still don't have power. This doesn't help them.
I guess next week we get the locusts.
