Re: The Last of Us I didn't really like the last two episodes. I guess I'm spoiled by the game and am just not going to like what they're doing on the show. What, no "brick f*cking master?", heh. Riley and Ellie were chased by a whole horde in the game, and it was just one in the show for like, two seconds. Everything is just so stinking rushed. Didn't like David. Didn't like the way they did that whole resort section. Where the hell were the rest of the residents when the restaurant was burning down? They could've at least have had them running away, or deserting, maybe in the distance to at least indicate they still existed. In the game, at least one could tell by some of the conversations of the NPC's that the others were being evacuated or something (I forget the exact wording). When Ellie went outside after slashing David, I thought - man, there's NO WAY they are going to skip the MOST IMPORTANT PART of Joel catching up to her and comforting her. But, they did that scene outside. A miracle they kept it in. And, hey - You know what this show has very little of? Stinking Infected. It's like they're barely a thing in this iteration. I know it may be due to practical and budgetary restraints, but, ya know what? Why do a show about stinking Infected people when you're NOT GOING TO HAVE THEM ON THE DAMN SHOW? But...at least we got to see the real Joel.

Re: The Last of Us And now we saw the real Ellie. Another rushed episode. Don't get me wrong, I think Bella Ramsey did an awesome acting job with what she was given (mostly the scene with fighting off David in the last ep), but I'm still not feelin' it with the show as a whole. Pedro is just so-so as Joel, but I don't think that's on him, I just don't like his "just kind of there" iteration in this. And again - NO INFECTED. Joel and Ellie didn't even have to do battle in any tunnel one last time before they reached the hospital. No Molotaving Bloaters? Come on. I know the show is mostly about their relationship, but the whole point of them going across country was to see if Ellie's immunity could produce a vaccine from a supposedly serious threat of these things that make the human race less able to move on and rebuild. So, I don't know, occasionally running in to SOME OF THEM would be, um, more interesting? The "Giraffic Park" scene was still cute. Like I said, it still felt rushed. The hospital scene especially. I know it might be a bit much to go overboard with the bloodshed on Joel's part (though they did certainly touch on that, eesh), but I still think everything happened too quickly. Now we'll probably have to wait two years for part 2.

Another show I had been watching was in the Anne Rice universe: The Mayfair Witches. I got the first book (The Witching Hour) years ago and I had remembered reading some of it and remembered some of the names, but I don't think I had read the whole thing.
I just re-read it as I was watching the episodes of the show. Ugh. I had read Interview With the Vampire and The Vampire Lestat, Queen of the Damned and Tale of the Body Thief back in the day, and I don't remember the dialogue being that bad in any of those books. But it was pretty cringe-worthy in The Witching Hour. I was thinking that people don't talk like that. No one had their own voice, it was like everyone was the same character and the things they said to each other were just blech. I hate when authors have their characters say each other's name in EVERY STINKING SENTENCE THEY SAY TO EACH OTHER. I know it has to be more than people actually do it in real life, just to break it up and let the reader know more clearly who is speaking, but she got really ridiculous with it.
"Michael, blah blah blah." "Rowan, blah blah blah." "But, Michael, etc. and so forth." "Yeah, Rowan, I know but, blah blah."
Ugh - just stop it already.
As for the show, quite a bit was changed. The character of Michael was completely different and had a different name, even. Ciprian or something. I don't know why they went in a completely different direction. I'm pretty sure Rice was involved before her passing, as she was with Interview With the Vampire, so I guess those were her changes.
Anyway, didn't like it (big surprise - I know, anyone who reads my posts knows there's not much I like these days). And the woman they picked to play Rowan has a HORRIBLE voice. I can't stand listening to her talk.
Well, wasn't that interesting?

I watched Lucky Hank with Bob Odenkirk. It's too soon to tell whether I'll like this one or not. The first episode was just okay.

There's a Spanish speaking remake of Breaking Bad made and set in Colombia called "Metastasis". One can watch it for free on Tubi. I've seen some scenes of it posted on YouTube.
Walter White is Walter Blanco, Saul Goodman is Saul Bueno, Jesse Pinkman is Jose Rosa, Mike is Mario for some reason, don't know why they just didn't go with Miguel (Jesse/Jose's middle name is Miguel, though, but they could've just changed that). Skyler is Cielo.
I might check out some episodes just to see how they did with them.

Anyone else watch Barry? I think it's a good show, but I don't like what they did with it the last episode (and the end of the one before). I hope it's just some weird narrative in Gene's brain and that time jump isn't real.

What the Sam Scratch is going on with Barry?! I REALLY don't like this 4th season. It just seems surreal and not like it's the same show at ALL. Really hoping some weird explanation comes out that these last eps are in someone's head or something. Either Gene narrating the story and embellishing it (though why he would focus on Barry and Sally when he doesn't know what's going on with them, I don't know) or Barry just hallucinating in prison or something - maybe he didn't really escape.
I don't know. Something to get back to where they left off last season. This season makes zero sense.

I guess it was the entire last season of Barry that I didn't like. Oh, well. I liked the beginning of it, anyway, just didn't like how it ended or how they did the final season.

I'm watching the final episodes of Ted Lasso this weekend (friend and I watch it together) and I'm sad to see it end, it's been such a good show.

They're doing a reboot of Frasier on Paramount+ starting Oct. 12th.
Don't know what more they can do with the character, so don't know why this is a thing. Oh, well. Guess we'll see. Well, I won't, since I don't have that channel, heh.

^^^^^ For those who don't have Paramount +, the first episode of Frasier is up for free on YouTube. I watched it. Kelsey Grammer has barely changed. He looks good for how ever many years later it has been. 20? (Edit: almost 20, it ended in 2004). I don't think I watched the very last episodes of it, or maybe the whole last season.
The new show may have potential, but nothing really happened where I laughed like I did for the original series. None of the rest of the original cast is on it, though some, like Lillith and Roz may do cameos in some eps. I hope they have some Cheers alums pop up. Frasier has left Seattle and is in Boston. (Edit: I think in the finale of the OS he was going to go to Chicago).
His son Fredrick is one of the characters and that's going to be kind of a Frasier/Martin type dynamic it seems. Niles' and Daphne's son, David, is a character. They are apparently going to make him a clone of Niles for that dynamic with Frasier.
I won't be able to watch the rest of the series unless I get Paramount + or a free trial or something. Don't know if I want to bother with all that.
Not a bad first ep, but nothing too great yet.

The actor who played Frederick in the original series is still in the business. Trevor Einhorn was on the SyFy series The Magicians (which I enjoyed until the show tanked in the second to last season) and I'm curious why he wasn't cast for this. Unless he turned it down

On Peacock starting Jan. 11th there's going to be a new series based on the movie "Ted" - with the same name, of course. It's going to be when the character played by Mark Wahlberg - John -was a teenager and Ted attended school with him. Seth MacFarlane is still voicing said bear.
