I kid you not, a moment before I clicked on this, I had just switched the TV over to a lame kids movie on ABC family called Teen Witch. I'd seen it as a kid and have some nostalgia for it. The scene that was playing featured Marcia Wallace, and as I read of her passing, she was delivering her dialog. Life can be very strange sometimes.
I'm a huge Simpsons fan (the first 10-15 seasons at least), so this is a sad day for me. I also watched some Bob Newhart as a kid during summer break. Sad to hear she passed. RIP.

Very depressing. My parents and I watched the original Bob Newhart show on Saturday nights, and I would see her on Match Game and of course with The Simpsons she reached another couple generations as well. RIP.

Just heard the news. As a lifetime Simpsons fan I was very sorry to hear of her passing. Saddest crew loss of the series since Phil Hartman. And with Sam Simon with only months to live at the moment...not a bright time for the series.

I'll always know her from the Simpsons, and I haven't watched that show in over 10 years. She's been doing that voice for what, almost 25 years? Amazing.
Rest well, ma'am.

As a kid we watched Bob Newhart every Saturday night. Always enjoyed Marcia as Carol, especially later when she married the guy who called her Big Red. Rest well....

CC is right - best picture ever to remember her from the simpsons. i had no idea of her death until just today. how sad. my family also watched the bob newhart show faithfully. and i just always loved edna on the simpsons. one of my favorite episodes was when bart has to pass his history test or repeat the 4th grade (which he has done how many times now?). when he originally fails and freaks out, edna says, "i know...another year together. it's gonna be hell." she was a great addition to the show and i was glad her character at least finally found love with ned flanders. i wonder how they will explain her absence on the show. and i agree with torgo - this is the saddest loss since phil hartman.

I love the episode that picture is from, Bart the Lover. It might very well be the ultimate Krabappel episode as far as I'm concerned. At least since thinking about her episodes in days since I can't think of one that tops it. But considering how many episodes there are in the series, I could be overlooking a few.
I've seen Simpsons fans pondering what the ultimate Krabappel line was over the course of the series, the most common I've heard was from Bart's Friend Falls in Love sexual education video...
Troy McClure: "...that night came the honeymoon..." (porn music) Children: "Ewwwwww!" Krabappel: "She's faking it."
Can't say I disagree with that one.

i don't know if i could pin down edna's greatest line was, either. she had so many and was great at the flip one liners. but i've dropped off from watching the show over the last few years, too. i liked what she said on her date with skinner - "usually it's just soup for one, salad for one...wine for three." ^one of my all time favorite moments

For those that get Game Show Network, aka GSN, on their cable systems, they are going to run a tribute to Marcia Wallace on Friday Nov. 1 starting at 8am Eastern time. Her funniest shows from Match Game, Pyramid, and others. All day long.
