Does Shout! ever lower their price like Amazon does? The current price seems awfully high.

Just got my XXXI set pre-ordered, another tin case is nice and the coasters sound cool.

I agree 100% with Mr. Atari on "Squirm". It's an all-around unpleasant movie. I never thought it was the right fit for the show, and is one of my least-favorite Sci-Fi eps. (Although I disagree about TISCWSLABMUZ, which I think is a great episode.)
The rest of the set is killer. Screaming Skull and Painted Hills are two classics, and Jungle Goddess is a decent (if not fantastic) Season 2 entry. At least we're finally done with Season 1!
I hope there is more in the way of Turkey Day wraparounds or something included in the extras to warrant the special name of the set. Seems odd to call it the "Turkey Day" edition just because they happen to be releasing it in November.

Does Shout! ever lower their price like Amazon does? The current price seems awfully high. The current price reflects the fact that this will be a tin package like volumes 13, 21, and 28. I'm disappointed that they're considering the slipcase a gift. My collection is allready lopsided thanks to the last tin they did which nixed the slipcase. Oh well.

I did not know that. I'd consider investing if my volume 30 set wasn't crushed in the mail. I'd hate to think what the mail carriers would do to an empty box.

I think its amazing how varying our opinions are about the episodes, despite all of our undying love for MST3k. There's VERY little MST3k that I don't love… Even the episodes that were not my favorites back in the day have grown on me. But we like what we like for whatever reasons and that's just the way things are.
I'm pretty excited about this set--though I'm not sure why its the "Turkey Day Collection"… I mean, seriously… They should have done that with the release of 701-Night of the Blood Beast (which they kind of did with the bumpers) or even "Turkey Volume Guessing Man" with the (future) release of 814-Riding With Death. At least there would be some actual connection with Turkeys, Turkey Day or the like. None of these episodes even make me think of MST3k's Turkey Day celebration, and I've been watching the show since 1991 and never missed a Turkey Day Marathon. That being said… I love 912-Screaming Skull and 1012-Squirm. 203-Jungle Goddess is a solid riffing episode, despite being so grey that it's hard to remember much of the actual plot. For me, however, the weak episode here is 510-The Painted Hills. Its not that the riffing is lacking, but its a downer episode--what with the old man death and attempted dog poisoning. I'd say 510 is probably one of my least visited episodes on my weekly viewing of MST3k.
Anyhow, I've already pre-ordered my set from Shout! My favorite thing is getting the box set early--which I've done every time they offer that--but the other extras are pretty sweet too.

I also don't like Squirm very much, other than the short. Screaming Skull, is fun for me and the Gumby short is among the best stuff they've done. The Painted Hills is pretty good, and the short is once again great. Jungle Goddess is a neat one and I love the last host segment. Overall, though I was more excited for the XXX than this collection. That being said, The worst MST is better than 95% of the stuff that is on TV currently, so I will be sure to get it.

Those are some expensive coasters. They do appear so. However, when added with the free slipcase (which will probably be sold for free at a later date, with pricy shipping) and the three week early shipping, they almost make the 65 dollar price worth it.

Okay, I'll be the dissenter. Other than The Incredibly Strange Creatures..., Squirm is my least favorite Sci-Fi episode. Much like TISCWSLABMUZ, it's just so ugly. There's a difference between bad movies and ugly movies. And there's something about the ugly, southern-fried, cheap fare with burned-out color from the '70s that really rubs be the wrong way. (It's the chief reason why I rarely enjoyed Cinematic Titanic-- they kept picking such ugly movies.) I totally agree on all that. I just finished re-watching Legacy of Blood, which is disagreeable on so many levels, it's hard to even enjoy the excellent riffing. If MST3K: The Next Generation ever happens, I hope there are more traditional black & white "monster" movies involved. Also, a character wearing a Fram air filter on his face would be great. As far as MST3K, I would add Girl in Gold Boots as another "yuck" episode for me.
Regarding XXXI, this will likely be one of my favorite volumes and I am giving strong consideration to pre-ordering from Shout! for the first time (love the shorts, Painted Hills and Screaming Skull). I just wish they would show/describe the coasters. Also wondering when the list of special features will be released.

Ugh, no cardboard case with the Amazon (and everywhere else but Shout) release? They'd better make it available on the site later on, because I'd rather not spend $20 for 3 weeks early, the cardboard case, and mystery coasters.

Shout has emailed a link to a "sneak peak" to its new website. The description of XXXI there (unlike the current Shout website) has listed the bonus features.
Here's the list: •New and Exclusive Turkey Day Intros By Joel Hodgson •Talking Turkey Day •Squirm featurette •Screaming Skull featurette •Interview with Joe Clokey •Theatrical Trailers •4 Exclusive Mini-Posters By Artist Steve Vance
What, no Lassie interview?

Heh. I like the idea of new Turkey Day intros. Though personally not having previous Turkey Day segments seems like a missed opportunity.
