I'm guessing the tilted fin on Tom Servo was tilted by mistake. Either than that, even though the changes are barely noticeable, the new bot designs don't seem to stand out from their previous designs too much.

I'm fine with these minor changes to Tom and Crow, which, as has been mentioned before, are probably due to their arms and hands being more frequently articulated.
Gypsy looks cool hanging from above!

The same paints are still available. Based on the lighting in the pic, it seems plausible he's the correct Testor's Lime Gold Metal Flake (well, they're now labeled "metallic" instead of "metal flake", but they're the same). Joel and his prop guys are well aware of the correct paints.
He does have a gloss coat now, though.
Servo's skirt is bigger, I think.

Would you say it's the same curve even when she's from the ceiling? Like, just letting her head swivel a bit while maintaining that arc?
Actually, hang on... don't answer that. I'll see for myself and be delighted either way. Or I won't notice at all and will be delighted by everything else. Either way, good notes on the, uh... piping-arc.

So, is there a new cambot?

Nothing jumped out at me as looking very different. Servo and Crow looked a bit shinier. Upon reading the comments the only difference I can really see is the hands. I do like Gypsy being able to hang from the ceiling. I hope this leads to more agility and movement from her.

Having seen a new picture of Gypsy in the latest update, it's just the flashlight that's new. Not sure why I like that big purple gal so much, but relieved they didn't really change her look. I suspect the new bot they've shown is actually cambot, because of the singular "eye".

Maybe it's just me, but the lens on Gypsy's flashlight/eye looks much larger than it did during the original series. It's not just you, it's definitely quite a bit bigger. The lens now seems to extend to the edge of the "flashlight" itself, and there's a bulky rim around it.

I won't mention it here, in case people want to avoid spoilers.

I'm seeing a bit of buzz around the Tumblr fandom to email Joel and ask him to change Gypsy's name in future seasons because it sounds like a slur.
I don't know, it's been twenty years, 200 episodes with Gypsy in every theme, and I've never heard a complaint about it before. Is anyone personally offended by it? Not to mention how commonly the word is used else where as a non-slur. Changing it just seems unnecessary to me. She's already known and beloved as Gypsy.

At the risk of being one of "those guys," that's because Tumblr doesn't think there are enough atrocities and hate in the world that they have to focus attention on a puppet show and try to find it where they can. Here's hoping it doesn't gain traction.

Well the word "gypsy" IS actually a Romanian slur, but I'm indifferent about the situation. I'm sure Joel never had any ill intent on choosing that name, and he probably wasn't aware of the name's other usage when he chose it. I've read that he just wanted to have a bot with a "mysterious" name, and Gypsy was also the name of his brother's pet turtle. While I'm certainly against the use of slurs, for me it's all about context, and here I don't think it's that big of a deal.

if Joel/Mike/Jonah & the bots were running around saying "I got gypped!" in the sketches or during the movies as a joke then they would have an actual case for their concerns. the naming of "Gypsy" the 'bot is just unfortunate.

Ah, the internet. Where everything is offensive and everyone should just shut up before saying "I want a sandwich" on your Twitter offends someone who eats pitas.
This is the exact same world that found the title of the second Lord of the Rings movie offensive and DEMANDED it be changed because of 9/11. OBVIOUSLY The Two Towers was insensitive to the event even though the book was written a half a century beforehand.
Everybody is offended by everything nowadays. White people pretending to be progressive are offended that a Caucasion character from a comic book is Caucasion on the TV show that spawned from it. Obviously since the character did martial arts he should have been Asian instead (and this is less racist how?). Obviously everybody who hated the new Ghostbusters movie whas a chauvinist pig, it didn't matter that the movie was obnoxious and not funny, you HAD to like it or else. The movies Beauty and the Beast, Power Rangers, and Star Trek Beyond shove homosexuality in our faces because they all contain brief scenes less than a second long that show that there are people who might not conform to the coupling norm. Gay agenda, they're spreading like the plague! It's all over people! If everyone is screwing each other up the butt then mankind will go extinct!
This is why I don't social media. If you "tweet" random thoughts without context or really without thinking about what you're saying ( ::cough::President Trump::cough:: ), there is bound to be someone who will get riled up for one reason or another. I know a friend on Facebook who posts random thoughts on her account, and she's always threatening to close it because people keep thinking she's talking about them without naming names. Of course she never does. Because Facebook is "normal."
I don't find the name Gypsy offensive. But then again, I'm white. I'm a racist scumbag for not finding things offensive. It's a name. Names change over time, and I associate the name "Gypsy" more with a fictional robot puppet more than I do with any human being anymore. That's just me though.
But that's just me living through my sheltered life. I feel like Randall in Clerks II not understanding that "Porch Monkey" is a racial slur. But I'm that way with just about everything that offends people really. I lead a privileged life, I guess.
