Anyone else remember the DAP? They've become much less important since About released most of the episodes, and YouTube took care of most of the rest. But there are some things I wanted to pick up off if there. Does anyone still have access to the DAP website? It looks like their registration system is down and darned if I can remember my old login info. DAP website

I still have an account there and I used it to watch episodes that would probably never get a commercial release along with other rare goodies.

I still have my account, and it looks like the system is still accepting new users (the newest user joined today).

Is that site seriously still around? Dang.... I know what you mean. It's an antique now, but back before YouTube, it was the ONLY way to find unreleased episodes. And its archiving and digitizing efforts is probably directly responsible for 90% of what's currently available on YouTube.

It should be noted that before Shout! started going crazy, the main DAP uploaders had prepped pretty high quality DVDs of virtually everything. The straight video files were a bit less high quality, IIRC. Hagabard has been basically keeping the lights on, even if the last five years of releases haven't been deleted from the tracker.

The DAP DVDs of the Sci-Fi episodes that were recorded off DVRs/digital broadcasts are in some ways better than some of the official DVD releases. They look good and don't have tape hits, sound glitches, or brightness issues like I've noticed in some retail SF DVDs. You just have to deal with the channel bug in the lower left of the screen at times.

Well crap, I have tape-traded VHS tapes of some of the Sci-Fi episodes that look better than some of Shout's releases, lol. For some of those, it's a pretty low bar.

DAP was awesome. I've had a 'complete' MST3K set since around 2004 because of them. I remember watching the KTMAs and most of season 1 for the first time back in the mid 2000s. It was glorious.

What are some of the low quality official transfers of Sci-Fi episodes, in your opinion? I found Horror of Party Beach and Neptune Men to be shockingly beat up. I'm going by the Amazon Video version - I'd have to pull out my Volume 37 set to compare, but I don't know why it would be a different source. I think Neptune Men also has the theme song spliced in from a different episode. You can tell because the clips shown in the theme are clips that would have been shown in the first half of the season rather than the second half. Maybe the intro had so many glitches they had to use one from a different episode?

I have a recording of the original broadcast and it's got the early season 8 intro.

Can't remember specifics just those two time frames.

Back before Gorgo was officially released, I downloaded the DAP DVD and immediately noticed that the picture was totally washed out. The brightness was way too high. I think I later tried a second DVD which had the same problem. I gave up on DAP after that.
