The new season of A Series Of Unfortunate Events is out. So far I'm liking it.
I'm just finally starting to get over my "issue" of only ever seeing Neil Patrick Harris when I see Count Olaf. That wasn't really a huge problem for me, but I'm glad it's passing.

Third season of Better Call Saul is now available. Yea. (When is the 4th season coming out on AMC? It's been a long time - it didn't end, did it? Don't answer that).
In other news: Parker Posey is going to be Dr. Smith on Lost in Space. Are they friggin' kidding?

Trying to get through Lost in Space. It's pretty draggy and boring so far. I don't know what they're even GOING for with Dr. Smith. Now, I know they don't want cheesy sets and all, but so far, the planet they are on just looks like Earth with a few more extreme glaciers and glow-y things flying in the skies - and why are there so many other people "lost in space" with them? It looks more like The 100 (which is coming back on soon, I forget what channel).
Thus far it's more family issues than adventures on far flung planets. Neat that they are using the old theme music, though.

If you think the new Lost in Space isn't very good, I challenge you to watch the pilot The WB ordered back in the 2000's that was directed by John Woo (for some reason). That bloody thing is horrendous.
I've only watched the first episode of the new show and quite liked it. I've been busy with my Week of Friday blog posts, but I'll watch the rest in due time.
But not having Dick Tufled voicing the robot for the first time ever...that hurts.

^^^^ I think I read somewhere that the kid that plays Will actually does the robot's voice (digitally altered, of course), but I could be wrong, 'cause I can't find any mention of it now. Parker Posey's character kind of reminds me of Ally Sheedy's character of Yang on the TV show Psych. This may not be necessary because it's revealed pretty early on that Parker Posey's character isn't actually Dr. Smith. She steals the real Smith's identity to get on the Jupiter II. (Edit: or the Jupiter IV {?} with Don). Smith died on the launch ship and was played by Bill Mumy.

A friend and I just breezed through the first three episodes of Lost in Space. We're starting to fall in love with it. We were ready and willing to do more, but we have an early morning tomorrow so we had to retire.

You know, I never liked the original Lost in Space. I mean I actively disliked the show. It was unpleasant to watch. I've always liked the premise, just not the execution, acting, tone or production quality. Same pretty much for the movie with William Hurt (or am I thinking of someone else?)
This I might have to take a risk on. I hated the original Battlestar Galactica, too, but absolutely loved the remake. Just need to find the time...

Now I see they have the '98 Lost in Space on Netflix, but not the old series. Saw the movie a loooong time ago and don't really remember anything. Maybe I'll give this another go. I'm assuming the movie is not really connected to the new series?

I'm assuming the movie is not really connected to the new series? Lol, Mod go ahead and dislike any TV series you want. The thing about Lost in Space is that the original series is very kitschy. Add in the fact that it's an Irwen Allen series style of kitsch that was aimed at 1960's families makes it quite possibly the kitschiest piece of kitsch that ever kitsched. It's not going to be for everyone. I on the other hand eat kitsch for breakfast, so I absolutely adore the original Lost in Space. Most agree that the movie isn't very good. I have a soft spot for it personally since it came out when I was 12 and switching up the 60's kitsch for late 90's cyberpunk kitsch was something I was totally into. If I know you Mod, I'd say you enjoy serialized genre shows that delve into grey moral areas, given your activity in the old Lost, BSG, and Walking Dead threads. The new Lost in Space is more like those, but I'd consider it on the lighter end of that spectrum (it's nowhere near as dark as Dead or Galactica). Give it a taste and see if it's up your ally.

I keep meaning to watch Lost In Space, but I keep running low on time to do so. Fortunately, Netflix will wait for its time.

Even Debbie, the chicken, makes an appearance. Though, in the original show it was Penny's chicken, not Don's.

Debbie was a chimp with Spock ears in the original show.
I believe Blarp, that pointless CGI monkey from the movie, evolved from that concept
