It was 16 months between the first Kickstarter and the premiere of Season 11. It was 19 months between the premiere of Season 11 and the premiere of Season 12. Based on that record, I don't think we'll be seeing Season 13 or the Gizmoplex until 2022. It has only been 4 months since the Kickstarter ended. lol you're joking right? for one thing they had to have all the episode done PLUS wait for when Netflix wanted to premiere it in their release schedule, so you would chop however many months of downtime off of that We're not on Netflix anymore, no network, they can make their own schedule, so those numbers absolutely do not apply. They aren't even starting from scratch like they did with the Return. It's only been 4 months like you said and "Movie 10 is finished, and Movie 11 is half-finished" so are they going to finish the episodes then have them sit on a shelf throughout the 2021 year?

They aren't even starting from scratch like they did with the Return. They weren't starting from scratch with Season 12 either, and that took 19 months. If Joel committed to writing, filming, and producing one episode at a time, then they could almost certainly release something before the end of this year. But everything I'm seeing suggests that Joel is (for the most part) retaining the production methods from Seasons 11-12, which slows things down in the short-term. Another thing working against a timely premiere: Joel is a perfectionist with full creative control over the project, which also happens to be his baby. He is going to have a hard time letting go of these episodes even when most people would consider them done. Not having a corporate partner like Netflix to enforce soft deadlines for him could also work against a 2021 premiere. One other thing: years of experience with project deadlines has taught me to distrust initial estimates. If someone says something will be done in Q4 of this year, they usually mean Q1 of next year at the earliest.

the fact it took longer to get less episodes should tell you those lazy numbers have nothing to do with production
also you are making a wild speculation that Joel will just blow the deadline by a whole year, with no precedent, just based on your own imagined exaggerated version of Joel who has no problem angering backers by going back on his promises

Season 12 was supposed to premiere on Netflix BEFORE the 30th Anniversary Live Tour. It was specifically delayed per Joel's request so it could drop on Thanksgiving Day, as a big 30th anniversary event. Joel has no problem with episodes sitting around for awhile before being shown. They aren't even starting from scratch like they did with the Return. It's only been 4 months like you said and "Movie 10 is finished, and Movie 11 is half-finished" so are they going to finish the episodes then have them sit on a shelf throughout the 2021 year?Absolutely they are. Look at what's been scheduled for the 3 host Holiday episode. According to the Backer Kit Add-On reward page, the final wrap party set visit is going to occur in "Feb - March 2022." The premiere for that episode is scheduled as a theater show live event in late 2022, "probably" December 2022. In addition, there's the information from someone at Alternaversal last Friday in the Endless Summer You Tube chat that the Gizmoplex is on schedule to begin in December 2021/January 2022. Since they are filming/producing this fall, that means some of these finished episodes are going to sit around for almost a year, or over a year, before their Gizmoplex premieres, given the one new episode a month premiere schedule they talked about during the Kickstarter. (It also means that there will be episodes premiering AFTER the Holiday special if that's on the Gizmoplex in Dec. 2022, which means that it can't be a season finale if they are going to have a narrative story line as was hinted at in the last Backer Update, but that's another issue.)

If the first episode debuts in December of this year, episode 13 would debut in December of 2022.
Dec. '21: Episode 1 Jan. '22: Episode 2 Feb. '22: Episode 3 March '22: Episode 4 April '22: Episode 5 May' 22: Episode 6 June '22: Episode 7 July '22: Episode 8 Aug. '22: Episode 9 Sept. '22: Episode 10 Oct. '22: Episode 11 Nov. '22: Episode 12 Dec. '22: Episode 13

Really?? Don't just look at Season 11 and 12, go all the way back to Cinematic Titanic which fell months behind at the very get go, and drug along slower and slower until in the end they had put out only 12 shows in a ~5 year period. Not only is there a precedent, its a 100% trend. Joel has NEVER got his product out on time in the last 15 or so years of him doing his own things.

You want precedents? Just wait a few years until Joel gets bored and stops being interested in the MST concept again and unilaterally announces he's ending it without telling any of the cast or crew.

'22: Episode 12 Dec. '22: Episode 13 True. I honestly miscounted. But that "Gizmoplex will be launching in December or January" information is not conducive to keeping to this schedule. Just slipping from December to January puts the kibosh on a Dec. 2022 season finale, if the plan of releasing one episode per month is kept to.

I wouldn't worry too much about the specific schedule. If they really will have all the eps done in a couple chunks, possibly by the end of this year, and they only slip a little bit, they'll probably just release them slightly faster than 1 a month.
Joel is a master talker. He could just spin something up like, "We're declaring June 'Summer Fun Month' and releasing a double helping of eps this month!!"
If they slip a lot, then they've slipped a lot and all bets are off.

To be honest, I'd be game for that thing Jonah/Baron/Hampton did in 2019ish - their take on Rifftrax (We Hate/Love Movies? Can't remember the exact name). Although if Joel pulls that poopie, I can't imagine any of the current crew would want to jump right into another riffing project.

Came out and did a normal standup routine.. and I thought that was the show. Then he told everyone to stick around and after a break he was going to riff a movie with the other comics who opened for him. They did GETEVEN... R rated and amazing.. it was fn amazing and hilarious. If he does hang up his MST3K host duties I hope that Jonah does two things 1) Take over for Joe Bob Briggs when he retires on shudder / or better 2) starts a R rated horror/action based riffing project.

Oh man, I did a group watchalong of GetEven a few months ago with friends, and it was SPECTACULAR. Absolutely riff-worthy, but it'd be 20 minutes long after the Rifftrax cuts.

When the credits rolled Jonah and his friends got up and sang the shimmy slide... Jonah said he would not stop until everyone in the place was up and dancing along. It was so hilarious and great.

I would love to see MST3K tackle something by Fred Olen Ray, Alienator (1990) is a movie that’s been on my wish list for a while! www.imdb.com/title/tt0096786/
