I got my access to the virtual Gizmoplex theater a few days ago. It surprised me, because for being a $5 backer I wasn't expecting any access at all, which would have been fine. Anyway, looking around the site...it's just not for me. I don't really see anything there at this point that would make me use that site versus the regular Vimeo/VHX gateway offered if I wanted to just watch an episode. (Which I've never used my VHX account for; I just downloaded the content as soon as it was available to me and I watch off my hard drive.) I did notice that after you pick an episode from the "canisters," a synopsis title card comes up, where you have to click on watch. That takes you into the screening room...where you again have to hit a play button. Seems like after you've selected the episode twice, maybe it should start autoplaying in the theater setting, which I hope looks better on a bigger screen like a TV than it did on my monitor, where the actual episode is in a pretty small default "theater screen." (Probably because hitting the larger options on those old SD original episodes makes them quite grainy.)
I can see it being very appealing to a certain audience, but possibly irritating if you just want to get to the content as quickly as possible.

what is the point of the Vault Picks each month, then?
It's just something fun, curating by theme, putting the spotlight on a group of episodes. Other sites, like Criterion Channel do the same, where yeah, you can just watch what they offer any way you want... but you can also watch by themes, directors, actors as they highlight them.
I've done this on my own (I've had Gamera, or Spy movie, etc, minithons) but it'll be interesting to see what they highlight, what episodes wind up as posters on the Gizmoplex each month. I've watched several of the vault picks so far, only because they are vault picks. Probably wouldn't have popped them in otherwise.
And I like the Gizmoplex, it's not all up and running, so I can't speak to what it'll be in complete form, but again, the key word for me is "fun" - I like entering the theater, watching in that mode (I watch while plugged into my big screen, so it's a good size).

If the downside is the vault picks are now kind of pointless I can cope with that.

If they made it themed a la Criterion that'd be interesting. I still don't use either option, but some certainly do. I do peruse 'em on Criterion.

Damn. He was already announced as Emily's Crow for the season during the KS. Its not like they filmed for very long. What, maybe 3 weeks total? I can understand not being able to tour, but not even doing the show? Weird he would just totally drop out.
From what I heard of his Crow, it was pretty good. That's a big loss.
From what I've seen online he only deleted all his social media last month, so you'd think all his lines are in the can as Crow, unless he got dubbed over for some reason.
So now I guess Crow really does stand for "Cybernetic Remotely Operated Woman".
That'll...take some getting adjusted to with the riffing.
Has anyone heard her Crow on tour? Thoughts?

Its only dumb in that we're inexplicably on like the third level of understudies playing the bots now. Did we ever find out who they got to play the bots in Joel's episodes when they couldn't get Kevin and Bill back?

Not sure we need to turn an inexplicable, unexpected piece of news into another opportunity to critique the revival. This seems like something personal and/or serious to or about the party in question.

Its only dumb in that we're inexplicably on like the third level of understudies playing the bots now. I think once they started doing touring troupes with different ensembles it was anyone's game. I don't really have a problem with other hosts having individualized sets of puppeteers/voices, because everything starting with the touring is entirely new terrain. It was interesting to see how the new voices clicked or didn't. Begle was quite good IMO, but it is what it is.

According to at least one BTS photo, it looks like Conor and Kelsey are playing Joel's 'bots.

I doubt I will be using the 'Virtual theater' option for the gizmoplex. I like the simple layout version. I think they did a good job with the design of the graphics and everything is easy to access and watch. Could be better but I dig it. Some folks seem to think they HAVE to use the 'point and click' style theater that they are planning. Not the case.. Just use the simpler version.

I can understand having different folks for the live tours.. but for the recorded episodes I think Emily and Joel should riff with Baron and Hampton.. Keep that consistent. The more they expand the cast without getting some 5 season 100 episode contract in place the more we are gonna see cast turnover. Part of me keeps hoping Josh will return as servo for at least a segment with Joel. That would be awesome.

Nate Begle still has an active LinkedIn page that he's used quite recently, within the past two weeks. In his Experience section, all mention of working on MST3K has been removed; I know that his work on the MST3K live tours was previously included when I looked at his page last fall. The only mention of MST3K is a brief one as a "client" in his "About" section.
Draw your own conclusions as to why someone might take a job - one that they received national media notice for, did interviews and podcasts about, and seemed very happy with in their social media until a few months ago - entirely off their resumé.

I've been assuming that they're Joel's Servo and Crow. Although there are still people elsewhere on the internet who swear it's gotta be Josh and Bill. At least we know that Conor and Kelsey did the puppeteering, even if there's different voices ADR'd in.
