Sidehackers, Devil Fish, Final Justice, all had to be edited.
Yeah, I'm the Voldar in the room (the worlds turning into Martianmellos), but I'm getting sick of this... hypersensitivity of late. Everything upsets us, so sanitize it and hold our hands, add a disclaimer.... NO, I don't want to be mollycoddled. They made several riffs that addressed the sexism in the movie, and that was sufficient and funny, but they did not need to SHOUT louder, beat me over the head with it, or preach AT me.
And If you have a trigger or things that upset you within the film, there are websites and apps out there that'll give you content information before you watch it, movie sites where you can ask about content. You're an adult, go find it.
Also, if you got 500+ likes, send those people personal messages. You can get together and have your talks and not bother with the ones you're complaining about who don't see eye to eye with you.

This movie was pretty tame compared to Devil Fish and Sidehackers, among others. In fact, one of Beyond Atlantis' stars, John Wayne's son, produced it and demanded the film be kept PG-rated (by '70s standards).

Just repeat to yourself it’s just a show I should really just relax

It not the show, it's this world that's getting on my nerves.

Hello everyone! I don't post here very often but I love the tone of the community here and the technologically slower speed of this ProBoards forum. As for your question about MST content, I think there are at least two dozen movies with similar content to this one over the life of the show, give or take, quite possibly far more, as some are a bit tamer, but still depict or imply different types of violence (including sexual) against women. The issue here seems to be a very specific set of circumstances, though. Personally, I'm not opposed to trigger warnings and the like. I give them in class when I assign stories, and ask my students to include them for the work they write. That said, I think it's also important that folks do their own due diligence with things like this, in part because some triggering things can be hyper-specific, and there's just no way that the people who create content advisories and the like could possibly know every thing that might trigger every single person. Personally, I've got a couple of things that I'd rather be prepared for if I know they're coming, and so I'll investigate some media before I watch/read if I suspect it might be a problem. Trigger warnings/content advisories don't hurt anyone, and we see forms of them pop up all the time. Even watching shows on some streaming services we see the traditional "rating-style" content advisory, so I don't see what harm adding trigger warnings might cause (ie., trigger warning: sexual assault, suicide, graphic violence, etc...) I just don't think it's feasible to expect producers and distributors of media to be able to get much more specific than that.

I'm ok with content advisory info.. not on the episode itself though. Just make the info available to those who want to find it.
That being said.. It's a low priority and I wouldn't spend money on it. When the show is self sustaining for future seasons then we can talk about spending money on that.
that's my take.

Yeah, content advisory separate from the ep would be my preference.
I have a lot of thoughts swirling in my head about whether we go too far with it, to where we are infantilizing ourselves, making ourselves too fragile, but I'm a bit over tired, so I'd probably muck it up if I tried to go into depth on that. But I will say that I thought you made some good points, worth ruminating on. (both of you)

RiffTrax does this now. They have a little rating and tags for the movie on the product page. (For example, they're newest steven seagal riff is-- TV-MA-LSV Nudity Profanity Violence)Or, you know, if you care that much, go to one of the dozen sites out there that has content tags for movies. This movie was made in 1973 and rated PG, and the movie cover has hot girls and scary natives on it. That should be enough for an intelligent viewer to have a feel for the coming content.

Oh, I would also like to throw out here as a comment on modern trends and posting in a forum -- calling people that disagree with you stuff like "toxic masculinity" is in itself toxic, hypocritical, and has no place here.

I just went and read the -now locked- thread and Jesus, the accusations and name calling was beyond the pale (one member defending himself for being called a misogynist, and other made a good point about the women who wrote and directed the film, who was labeled a 'possible sex addict") So absolutely, lets not do that here.

PG does have different meaning today then back then though, heck, even PG-13 is pretty tame compared to what aired last night. Some sort of text warning or whatever is probably pretty fine in all honesty

It’s a movie with Sid Haig in it, use your brain…

What if they're actually exhibiting toxic masculinity? (I have no idea if they were or not in this case, just seems a bit much to say that phrase has no place here (or anywhere for that matter))
