There’s a Kickstarter going for a sequel to Demon Squad. I could see this having potential, as long as they don’t lean in to being the joke like the Hobgoblins and Birdemic sequels.

The fact that they list in the description that the original was in Season 13 makes me think that they're going to lean pretty hard into it. Hard pass.

It’s probably the most known thing they’re associated with. If they’re trying to get some attention, not even mentioning MST3K would be silly.

Wouldn't be surprised if they try to tailor it for a future MST3K appearance, seeing how there's never been a filmmaker so thrilled to be lampooned on the show

Welp its going about as well as people here were hoping the MST3K Kickstarter would go: Halfway through the campaign and they've only made a little more than what their "proof-of-concept" Demon Squad was made for. And its trending towards coming nowhere near halfway towards the goal.

Welp Demon Squad 2 aint happening, only got 26K (21% of goal), then 36K because someone put in $10,000 at the last minute, which was likely not even a serious pledge.

That was fast: They’ve relaunched with a more reasonable goal of $20,000. kck.st/3mTYROZ

LOL especially since their "proof-of-concept" Demon Squad 1 only cost $15K. So they are going to just make another "proof-of-concept" quality movie? The difference now is they have deliver something, no matter how little the 25K-30K pays for.
And talk about fast, half their backers piled over already. No idea why they arent asking how they expect to make a bigger better Demon Squad movie for only 20K. With the original goal of 125K, the expectation to make Demon Squad 2 for less than the budget of the MST3K episode they are hoping will mock it is laughable enough.

Huh. I thought it was the best fit for MST3K this season. I went in with trepidation, but within minutes the sincerity of the film carried me through. I much prefer, and feel, that truly indie films like Demon Squad are a much better fit than redressing old, dead, Full Moon Pictures back stock and trying to squeeze a buck out of it. Those feel more like RiffTrax (Munchie, Doctor Mordrid). Those were fun, too, but not my favorites. But as long as there's a good variety of film choices, I'm okay with it. A little something for everyone. And it looks like my kind of MST movies are about to come down the pike here over the next few months. Munchie was a Roger Corman production, not Full Moon Pictures. The reason it was liked chosen is because Shout Factory now has complete distribution rights to nearly all of Corman’s Concord/New Horizons era movies.
