But it always comes back to good old fashioned blues-based rock and roll. The Beatles, Zeppelin, CCR, John Mayer, Dada, Huey Lewis, etc. Do you really think John Mayer is blues-based? Granted he can play blues guitar but his songs are like whimpy pop to me. It's been awhile since we argued.

Mayer's guitar style is what I was referencing. Nothing like a nice single-coil pickup played through a Fender tube amp. With some tasty blues riffs thrown in for good measure. As for the songs, I don't think they're especially impressive. I shant defend them- they're not worth it. But to ease the matter, replace John Mayer in that list with the Foo Fighters. Not really blues, but fun rock and roll released in the last 10 years. And, let's be honest, there isn't a whole lot to choose from there.#nosmileys

He's really a great guitar player but his songs and voice are of no use to me. Damn, I thought you were gonna stick up for him and I could tell you how wrong you were.
